The new grand guardian, Mrs. Avon Vert, and the new as sociate grand guardian, Andrew Stevens, presided. More than 700 girls attended the banquet at the Portland hotel the night of April 12. Sue Wissing of . Roseburg was chosen honorary Kate representative of the state of Pennsylvania. Mrs. A. J. Young opened the formal meeting Friday morning. Paula Helweg escorted Eugenia Rhodes, grand fifth messenger and who is a past guardian of Rose burg Bethel and past queen of Bethel No. 8. At the exemplification of the ritualistic work put on by honored queens from all over the state, Paula Helwet acted as senior cus todian. On Saturday noon, a lunch eon and style show were enjoyed at the Portland hotel. The convention was closed Satur day evening with a public instal lation of the 1951-52 grand guard LOCAL DANCE GROUP ATTENDS FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL IN EUGENE The Riversdale Folk Dane club attended the folk dance festival held in Eugene Sunday. The local group entertained with dance entitled, "The Man on the Flying Trapeze." Folk dance clubs from Salem, Portland. Eugene, ttose- burg and the Univemity of ore. gon gave dance demonstrations. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spencer of Roseburg are leaders of the local group. A folk and square dance festival will be held in Roseburg, Sunday, June 17. Those taking part from Rose burg were Mr. and Mra. BAND PARENTS URGED TO ATTEND IMPORTANT MEETING TUESDAY NIGHT The last meeting of the Rose burg Band Parents association un til fall will be held Tuesday night at 7:30 o'clock in the band room of Senior high. Every parent is urged to attend as a number of important decisions will be made at the business session. , CRUISERS CLUB TO MEET AT POTLUCK MONDAY The Cruisers club will meet at a 6 45 o'clock poiluck dinner Mon day night at the First Presby terian church parlors with Mr. and Mra. Earl Plummer and Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Hall as hosts and hostesses. The program will be in observance of national music week and will be in charge of Mrs. Homer W. Grow. FLOWER AND PLANT SALE SUCCESSFUL PROJECT FOR CLUB A flower and plant sale was held to raise funds tor the West Mel rose club at the April 19 meeting. Mrs. E. M. Seeley was hostess and aerved a charming dessert-luncheon. A business meeting followed. Those in attendance were Mrs. Howard Kaiser, and daughter, Irene Kay; Mrs. Lee Jones and daughter, Barbara; Mrs. Eli San ders, Mra. Ike James and son, hoy; Mrs. Ed Moon and Karan and La Rayne Eckes; Mrs. Grover James and sons, Larry and Mike, and Mrs. George Outhouse. Group singing of hymns and a prayer pened the meeting and the ceremony, whicn was conducted by Mrs. Raymond Schaefer, seated the new officers. Those installed were Mrs. R. D. Knigxe, president; Mrs. H. E. Crawford, vice - president. Mis. Mae Crawford, second vice pres ident; Mrs. Clarence Mohely, sec retary; Mrs. Louise Gwaltney, treasurer; Mra. Arnold Jurgens, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Anna Wickham and Mrs. Mae Byrd, new circle presidents. A busine.n meeting followed with Mrs. Knigge in charge. Mrs. H. K Crawford was in charge of the program, assisted by Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mrs. James Richey and Mrs. Anna Wickham. Reports from the Umpqua Woman's spring rally, held April 18 at the Baptist church in Cottage Grove, were given. Mrs. R. E. Crawford served re-f-eshment. The next meeting will be May 17 at the church. The piny is produced by the members n'f the Wilbur Community club. Pro ceeds from the evening will be presented to the Camp Fire and 4H scholarship funds. DINNER TO BE EVENT OP MONDAY The annual dinner of the social club of the Order of Eastern Star will be held Monday night at the Masonic temple. Mrs. R. L. Whip ple and Mrs. Lucien Cobb are in charge of arrangements. Serving will begin at 6 30 and the turkev dinner will be followed by music and a motion picture. Tickets for the dinner will be on sale at a booth in front of the J. C. Penney store Saturday. They are also on sale at the of fice of the Wiley Realty company and the office of Dean Bubar. MR. Ex amination papers were graded hy the members, with final grades to be judged by a committee later. One guest was present, Gordon Stewart of the Douglas Credit Bur eau.
