A large crowd danced to the music of Jimmy Whetmore's orchestra, brought to Roseburg especially for the oc casion. The policemen's wives decorated the armory with streamers of ma roon, cream and blue. During the dancing, the saxo phonist Bill Rossi was notified by the stale police that his father had been killed in an automobile acci dent an hour previously.
