A Better Way To Protect Your Baby's Tender Skin Services Slated For Observance Of Good Friday The traditional Good Friday service will pe held in the Pres byterian church this Friday, ie ginning at 12 noon. Following a pattern common throughout Prot estant churches, seven different Roseburg pastors will speak upon the "Seven Last Words of Christ" which were uttered by Him from the cross. The Rev. Clark Robb, pastor of the North Roseburg church, will begin the service at noon by speak ing on the first word. "Father. forgive them; for they know not iwhat they do. " ihe second word I "Verily I say unto thee, today ! shalt thou be with me in Para ' dise," w ill be presented by the Rev. H. A. Schlatter, pastor of the I Church of God. "Woman, behold 'thy Son; Behold thy mother," the 1 third word, will be the subject of the message by the Rev. Clarence Anderson, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible . Three-Hour Service The pastor of the Free Methodist church, the Rev. H. L. Stegman, will deliver the fourth word, "My God, My God, why hast thou for saken me?" The Rev. Robert Hall, Presbyterian missionary in charge of new Sunday schools in this area will be the filth speaker, using the text, "I Thirst." The Faith Luth eran church pastor, the Rev. Willis Erickson, will speak en the sixth word, "It is finished." And the General secretary of the Roseburg Y M.C.A., the Rev. Merlin Donald son, will conclude the service by presenting the seventh word, "Father, into thy hands 1 com mend my spirit." The three-hour service is con tinueus from 12 until 3 p.m., but worshippers will be free to come or go at any time during the serv ice. Approximately 25 minutes is allowed for each of Ihe "Seven Lust Words.'Mn addition to the short messages by the ministers, time is allowed for hymn, prayer, scripture reading, and special mu sic in connection with each of the 25 minule periods. The Good Friday service Is of ficially sponsored by the Roseburg Ministerial association, and it is open to the public. People of all faiths and churches are welcome. Get a roll today! i Annual Police Dance Tickets Still Available A few tickets are still left for the annual Police ball to be held Friday at Ihe armory, Police Chief Calvin Baird reports. Baird said a block of tickels Is being reserved to go on sale at the door the night of the dance. He said any couple who decide to attend at the last minule will be able to dance to the popular music of Jimniie Whetmore and his orchestra. Whetmore's publicity agents say the orchestra leader's appearance in Roseburg. lumber capital 01 the nation, reminds him of an unusual experience when he played an en gagement at Paskenla, Calif., an other lumbering commiaaily. The place was described to them by the manager as a "polite club and hunting resort." The band Whetmore was then playing with packed up at 1 a.m. and siarted to go when five shels at their feet halted them. A lumberjack with a pistol in one hand a flask in the other told them to sit down and play some more which they did. Whenever the band did not know a number, a prod in the Dack or a shot in the air with one of the pistols hastened them to "fake it." It was dawn before the weary lads could get but of the place. All of them are alive and well today and two survivors are in Jimmie Whetmore's present or-chest-a.
