Cards Climb In Hoop Poll Central Catholic Leads At Lincoln Closes In By Th. AwocLted PrM The Lincoln high Cardinals are zooming up in the Oregon high : school basketball world. Although ' Central Catholic, another Portland team, still leads the weekly Asso- , ciated Press poll, Lincoln hna moved into second place only 12 points behind Central. i Bolh teams have similar records: . 19 wins and 2 losses for Central, i 17 and 2 for Lincoln. I By losing its second game last week, a decision to Oregon State's Rooks, the Kams also lost some votes. Eleven sportswriters gave Central first place, two less than last week. Lincoln picked up furr first-place ballots, three more than last week. Salem, dropped to the No. 3 spot for the first time, got the only other vote for first place. The Vi kings were upset by Eugene last week. The Klamath Falls Pelicans were in fourth place. Central had 153 points, Lincoln 141, Salem 120 and Klamath Falls 116. Pirates Rat Sixth Voting dropped off sharply from there. About the only significant change in the standings was Lin coln's upward surge, on the heels of big Wade Ilalbrook's point-making spree 91 against Cleveland high. Behind Klamath Falls, in order, came Grants Pass, Marshfield, La Grande, Astoria, North Bend and Lebanon. Grants Pass and Marshfield held their positions.
