HERE ARE Bruce Elliott, Chuck Friday Head Up List Committee Chairmen Listed; Duties With ' Council Are Defined J r i 'V:j)i'iwiiy'..,. .1111 oil ywwW!i'ysy'w -,.,..l... i. u . i . -.i.,,. 1 An able staff of community workers has been selected to direct the work of the Douglas District council, Boy Scouts of America, according to Rollie Quam, assist ant scout executive of the Oregon Trail council, and District Execu tive Jack Fintlen. The slate of officers, headed by Bruce Elliott as district chairman and Chuck Friile as district com missioner, was ratified at the re cent Oregon Trail ouncil meeting in Springfield, In addition to the officers and special committee chairmen, whose duties are outlined below. the list inclutles the executive board, which conducts and controls , the business of the council between i meetings. The members include Elliott. John Todd, Jerry Willis, Rev. W. A. MacArthur and A. G. Henninger. Kenneth Ford is a members at large of the board. Members at Large District committee members at large are FJ,mer Naples of Drain, Paul Hult of Dillard and Hen ninger, They serve where needed in the youth work. Pictures of Ma ples anil of Ernie Seaton, also of Drain, who heads the camp ing committee, were not available for inclusion in the accompany ing group. W. H. Gerrctsen is the district representative to the National Boy Scout council. The offlcersand committee chairmen and their specific duties follow: Bruce Elliot, district chairman. His job is to head up the work of the district committee, preside at its meetings and coordinate the work of the district operating com mittees, working closely with the chairman. He serves as an ex-of-ficio member of all district com ' mittees, Chs'i-lM "Chuck" Friday, district commissioner. He will develop and supervise -the district commission staff and conduct roundtahle meet ings i.i cooperation with the dis trict committee. ' BillEvans, district vice - chair man. He will preside at the district meeting inutile absence of the chairman nnij serve as an e&of ficio member of committees as signed by the chairman. . Joiin Todd, camping and activ ities chairman. He will plan a def inite balanced camping and activ ities program and be responsible for its effective promotion and use by the units. Earl Ladd, advancement chair man. He will stimulate Cub, Scout and Explorer advancement '-according In Nation council re quiremes and procedure. George Fottor, organization and meetings for new units' and to con duct, in cooperation with related commissioners, annual unit char ter review's and assist with charter presentations. Roy Crain, leadership training chairman. He will prepare a pro gressive training program for unit leaders and other groups as needed. He will also see that suc cessful and accepted melhotls of promoting attendance at training events are used. Calvin B!rd, health and safety chairman., he will give adequate protection ii all taking part in au thorized scouthg activities and will teach scouts the skills of pro tection, physics fitness and self reliance. He will also train scouts to give-srvice ti, other .persons and to their famiies and communi ties in emergencies. w Paul Abeol, finance chairman.
