Oregon) I a mm m mm m m m m m hi CAMP FIR I ACTI VITUS AOWAK1YA The Aowakiya Camp fire group met Saturday, Oct. 28, at the school for dancing and a Hallow een party. After Mrs Scott taught the girls a new square dance, prues were given by Mrs. George Kuhn for the best costumes. First prise was won by Mary Reels who had a "man about town" costume. Nancy Lehmis won sec ond as a "barefoot peasant girl" and I.e Etta Sprawl won third for her "comic cowboy" costume. Also in costume and enjoying ghost stories and apple bobbing were, Loretta Desbiens, Kathleen Scott, Genevieve Murphy, Mary Anna Wells, George Ann Kuhn, Judy Vineyard and Marjorie Kil kenny. Camp Fire Girls of the Aowa kiya group were visitors at the telephone company Friday, Nov. 3. The girls were shown the new dial system and tried it out, talk ing to each other over the min iature system. Present were Ther esa Durrand, Nancy Lehnus, Mar jorie Kilkenny, George Ann Kuhn, Judy Vineyard, Mary Reels, Kath leen Scott, Loretta Desbiens and the leaders, Mrs. Vineyard and Mrs. George Kuhn. The meeting, held Thursday, Nov. 2. was cslled to order by Presi dent Gladys Honstead. Secretary Sandra Siefarth called roll and read the minutes. "Law of Camp Fire" and "Wohelo Cheer" were sung at the end of the business session. Those present were Bon nie Berg. Carol Undbloom, Char lotte Isaacson, Gladys Honstead, Joan Keely, Sandra Siefarth and Susan Short. I IHAHA I October was a busy month for members of the Ihaha Camp Fire group. A "Get Acquainted" party for parents was given at the home of the guardian, Mrs. Armstrong. Following refreshments, a council fire was held. The theme was "Getting Acquainted With Camp fire." After the Wohelo call the girls entered, singing the proces sional. Candles were lit to the seven crafts with an explanation of each craft and the four ranks. The group then sang the Camp fire Law, explained the watch word and sang "Wohelo Cheer." Membership pins were presented by the guardian followed by the closing song and extinguishing ceremony. On Oct. 12 a hike was enjoyed. The only casualties were three pairs of wet jeans because three hikers slid Into the creek. A Halloween party was held on Oct. 27. The girls gave the party for the boys of the neighborhood. The current project is a traveling library for the community, which is being sponsored by the cham ber of commerce. MASSASOIT The Massasoit Camp Fire Girls of Riverside school have partici pated in several interesting events since the first of the school yesr, as reported by their leader, Mrs. Harel Gladwill. The Cheskchamay and the Mas sasoit Girls held a "Fly Up Cere monial" in the school lunch room for the last years Blue Birds, who ire entering into Camp Fire. Re (reshmenls were served to the guests of honor and Mntheri of both groups. Mrs. Nidsys 4th grade Blue Birds were welcomed as special guests. An excursion during Teachers Institute was enjoyed by 24 girls of the three sixth grade groups, to the "Man on the Street", the flower show at the Methodist' Church, followed by lunch in the I'mpqua Park and a most inter esting visit to the new Radio Sta tion KRXL. Election of officers for the group was held with the fallowing girls selected to serve lor the following four months presi dent, Connie Bridgess; vice presi dent, Jacklyn Warren; sec. treas., Marjorie Gladwill, and scribe, Pat Niday. Also the standing commit tee selected for the next four months are; craft, Mollie Wilcox; music, Trunette Phillips, and Kathleen Tripp: sports and games, LaVelle Gladwill and Con nie Burgess; party planning, Mar- Garden Valley y MRS. CARL SCHMIDT Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ritchie have returned to their borne in Garden Valley, after a six-weeks vacation in the east at Suffolk, Va., visit ing with their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Cross. Mrs. Clem Schniedcr. who has been ill fnr a week at her home, is reported to be improving. The Riversdale Home extension unit will meet at the Grange hall on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. with project leaders Mrs. Sig Mad son and Mrs. Clem Schnieder in charge. Sack lunch will be served at noon. The Garden Valley Missionary society will meet on Thursday at a.m. at the home of Mrs. U. F. McLaughlin. There will be a poi luck dinner at noon.
