Clougherty, became the bride of Richard Gordon Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest H. Thomas, all residents of Beaumont, Calif., Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Beaumont Community Presbyterian church. Rev. Carl Smith of Sierra Madrc, Calif., officiated. The bride was beautiful in a gown of ivory satin with deep yoke of Cantilly lace outlined with seed pearls. The cuffs were insets of the same lace and also outlined with seedpearls. Her fingertip veil of illusion was held in place by a Juliet cap of lace and peals. She carried a bouquet of shattered car nations. Mrs, Donald Fairbanks of Santa X V 1. MISS INA MAY SPENCER, daughter of Mrs. Myrna Spencer of Canyonville, and Elmer Van Epps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Van Epps of Tieton, Wash., were quietly married in Reno, Nev. Oct 7. Tha bride wore a biege suit with black accessories. She is a graduate of tha Canyonville high school, class of 1950. In I94 she was chosen carnival queen. Tha couple will make their home in Canyonville where Mr. Van Epps is in tna logging business. The bridegroom also attended Pass dena City college. The couple will reside in Beaumont. COUNTRY CLUB LADIES PLAN FOR POTLUCK LUNCH Ladies of the "Roseburg Country club met for a 12:30 lunch at the club house on Thursday, Oct. 19 Mrs. R. D. Bridges and Mrs. W. C. Callison brought cakes which were served with the coffee. Plans were made for a potluck lunch to be held next Thursday, Oct. 26, at 12 o'clock, instead of the usual 12:30 time. All members are urged to attend and should try to bring a new member. Members are also requested to bring their own china and table silver. A business session, conducted by Mrs. J. M. Boyles. preceded the program and tea hour. Mrs. E. I.. Tauscher, newly elected president of District No. 2, was introduced and presented with a beautiful cor sage. A resume of the flower show was given by Mrs. w. H. carter and Mrs. Harry Hatfield and Mrs. J. M. Boyles gave a report on the second district convention which was held in Albany. Mrs. E. G. Young, program chairman, introduced Miss Helen Casey by reading a clever original poem entitled "Helen." Miss Casey gave an interesting account of her four months journey through the European countries and displayed aouveniers of her trip. Mrs. Hilda Peterson, a member of the Roseburg Writer's club, was also presented by Mrs. Young. Mrs. Peterson talked on Mate roeiry day and read several original poems: "The Heart Clings oy Helen Hunt Pettit, "Frost Magic" by Esther Harpham, "Recipe" by James R. ALPHA THETA CHAPTER HAS REGULAR MEETING Alpha Theta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held the third meeting of the season, Oct. 19. at the home of Mrs. Ray Puckett. Vice-president Lucy Todd conducted the meeting in the absence of the presi dent. The program on "Happiness" was led by five members, with group discussion following. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Ray Puckett and Mrs. Charles Williamson at the close of the pro gram. Attending the meeting were the Mesdames Ray Puckett, Charles Williamson, C. V. Mr. and Mrs. Sill took a wedding trip to Nevada and California. They will make their home at Clear Lake. Mrs. Siller recently csme to the Douglas County Health department as public health nurse for the Reedsport, Gardiner and Elkton area. She will continue serve in this position. Micelli, who spoke en the 1950-51 theme of Business and Professional Women, "Measure Up." Among the guests at the banquet were the members of the "baby club" of BPW in Oregon. The meeting was called to order by President Alice Gill and the minutes were read and ap proved. Alice Gill invited the club mem bers to a masquerade party on Oct. 31,. Her frock was of rose taffeta and lace and she carried pink chrysanthemums.
