Support WASHINGTON - P- The gov ernment will support grower prices of major crops in 1951 at maximum levels permitted by law. That level is 90 percent of par ity. Parity, a standard for meas uring farm prices, is declared by law to be equally fair to produc ers apd those who buy their prod ucts. The government could drop the supports to 85 percent of parity next year. But the international situation being what it is, Secretary of Ag riculture Brannan has decided to keep supports high to encourage Dig crops. The first formal announcement of a 1951 support program may come within a few days for wheat. Th winter wheat portion of this grain crop will be seeded in the fall. Hence, the department will announce the support program soon to encourage increased plant ings over this year's crop. Ulher crops to be suDDorterl ni tho 90 per cent parity rate include cotion, corn, rice, tobacco and peanuts. Formal announcement of rates for these crops may not come until after the first of the year, because they are not planted until next spring. The current wheat support rate averages of $1.99 a bushel at the OFFICIAL Fire Protection Service Unbiased Recommendations on Your fire Protection Problems ALL TYPES FIRE EXTINGUISHERS SOLD and SERVICED No on mlngulihir Ii btll lor oil lypei of ilrai.,.wi con racommind Hit lypt qulpminl Ihol matli your oxoct niidt. 803 WINCHESTER ST. National President Howard Leake, Birmingham, Ala., told delegates at the opening of the four day session that the fraternity's ex clusion policy was barring it from some school campuses. William A. Stein, Portland, re ported the alumni groups of Port, land and Seattle would favor re movel of the exclusion clause from membership rules. He noted, how ever, that more than half the active chapters are on southern cam puses. farm. Next year's rate Is likely to be above $2, because the parity price probably will be higher. Par ity prices rise and fall with corre sponding changes in prices farm ers pay for goods and services. In all likelihood, the government will set higher production goals in 1951 for cotton, corn, rice and peanuts as well as wheat. It is anxious to maintain reserves for possible spread of the Korean war. This year's wheat and cotton crops are falling below govern ment production goals. But large reserves from past crops will pro vide ample supplies until 1951 crops are harvested. Vaporlilng liquid SUPPLIES.!
