Newspaper Page Text1 Iritons Miist Buy Own lath Salts, Ministry Rults LONDON (AP) The national health service has drawn the line at buying Britons their bath salts Neither, said the health ministry, will it honor prescriptions for smel ly lotions to make mosquitoes to away. This also applies to vanishing cream, shaving soap, tooth paste, talcum powder and hair tonic. "Prescriptions for such prep , arations have not actually been submitted," said a ministry spokes man, "but the point was raised be cause there are some border-line cases. A man with the itch, it might be argued with some reason, needs medicated soap." Now an expert committee, on which members of the British Med ical association served, has clear ed up the doubts. Mrs. Orville Hodges entertained with a party at her home last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Vert Miller and Mary Ann, accompanied by Ste ven Rentz and Edie of Smith River, spent Sunday , at the coast. Leslie Goins was taken to a local doctor Monday because of a badly infected foot. II and 12. The above girls are being trained by Mrs. Norman Siefarth. They will put on several water forma tions, exemplifying rhythmic swimming as a special 'feature fol lowing each evening's events. The feats will be under the lights of the pool, with the underwater lights making the acts more pictur esque. HOME ON WHEELS House trailers are numerous these days, but Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tres trail of North Webster, Ind., have 4 design all their own, which they call a "Trestrailer." The Tres trails and their four children were recent visitors in Dillard at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jones. Mrs. Trestrail is a niece of Mrs. Jones. Their particular home on wheels was built by Tres trail on a truck chassis. The "master bedroom" is built over the truck cab, while in the rear are the bunks for Jeanne Lee, 10, Janet Lynn, 9, Roderick Norman, 5, and Albert Henry, 3rd (Kim for short). The Trestrails left Indiana June I, traveled through the south, then the west, visiting relatives in Los Angeles, and Mrs. Trestrail's brother, Roderick N. Sith, at Glennale. They antic ipate about an 8,000-mile trip by the time they return home. Trestrail is a music instructor in his home town, and Mrs. Trestrail is the daughter of E. E. Smith, Ph. D. of Chicago, well-known author of science fiction. The Trestrails must travel slowly because of the size of their home on wheels, but they have been able to make their tour educational as well as enjoyable, they report. Hollywood Scene By ERSKINE JOHNSON HOLLYWOOD (NEA)-Olivia dfi KaviUand, in a duel role, played good and bad twins a couple of seasons ago in "The Dark Mirror." Now it's Loretta Young as a good and bad split-personality heroine in "Half Angel." But it is no clinical study. Cecil Kallaway, who plays Loretta's pop in the picture says: "The story is an amazing com bination of slapstick and comedy." I asked Loretta about working (or her husband, Tom Lewis, who pro duced her last film at MGM. She said: "It was strickly a business rela tionship. I tried to talk to him at dinner about the script. He said, 'Uh, uh make an appointment at my office.' So I made one." Janet Blair has dropped nine pounds since opening here in "South Pacific" seven weeks ago. She's a mighty happy "Nellie." . . . Slick change of pace for Lloyd Nolan in "The Lemon Drop Kid." He plays a comedy menace who has as many laugh lines as Bob Hope. Barbara Lawrence's new boy friend, Ronnie Hudson, reportedly is a wealthy oil man from Dallas. Some day I'd like to meet an oil man from Texas who could use a few bucks. There was a long discussion at a star's home about why so many bad movies are filmed. Studio executives were blamed, one of the guests summing it up very aptly with: "The people who have the power to say 'no' do not always have the necessary qualifications to say 'yes.' " Ann Sheridan spent a year re modeling her Encino home and now will christen it with a three day Mexican fiesta. Says Ann: "It will probably take another year to put in back in shape after the party." Franklyn Pangborn, the franlic handed comic, is back in town after doing TV stints in New York. He says it was a moral victory the video producers never once of fered him the part of a fussy de partment store floorwalker . . . Maureen O'Hara is getting the ac tion roles she dreamed about as a dewy-eyed , subdued herione. She battles Indians in "R 1 o Bravo" and cracks a bullwhip in "Comanche Territory." Physical Exams For School Set At Myrtle Creek Physical examinations, as requir ed -by Oregon school laws, will be given for Myrtle Creek children entering grade school and high school on Aug. 16 and 17, announ ced Mrs. M. A. Kusler, chairman of health for the Myrtle Creek Parent-Teachers association. The examinations will he con ducted by Doctors R. E. Williams, Mary Williams and J. C. Howard. Jr. They will be held in the old grade school building. Dr. Mary Williams will examine tne pre-school girls on Wednesday, Aug. 16. at 9 a.m. and girls enter ing high school at 2 p.m. the same day. Dr. R. E. Williams and Dr. How ard will examine pre-school boys at 9 a.m. Thursday, and bovs en tering high school at 2 p.m. that oay. All children entering Oregon schools for the first time at Myrtle ureeK must also be examined on these dates, if possible. Since the children will he regis tered for the first grade and as signed to their teachers on these dates, they must be accomrwnled by a parent or guardian and bring their birth certificates. Forms will be mailed to par ents of children who come under this school law, and these should be filled out on page two of the form either at homemr before the child is examined, so the form can be turned in on tne date of the exam ination. Further information may be ob tained from Mrs. Kusler, phone 598. The clinic Is sponsored and paid for by the Myrtle Creek school board and PTA. But the Robert Bells have chang ed things with the addition to the family tree of Pamela Constance STEALS TO DODGE PORTLAND (AP) A 17-year- om marine corps reservist told police he stole a corps station wa gon "to get into trouble so I won't have to go into the service." His unit had been called to re port for active duty next Tuesday. He and a companion were held in the county jail.
