Swimming Demonstration Next Wednesday Night Ray Brown, wter lafety chair man, Douglas county chapter, manager for the City Park Com mission announced today that through the facilities of the two agencies i swimming demonstra tion will be held at the Roseburg pool at S p.m. Wednesday, July 26. 1950. Featured will be youngsters from each stage of the current Red Cross swim classes, who will exhibit their recently acquired skills for the benefit of parents and the interested public. Brown ad vises the event will be free, and hopes that a good crowd will b in attendance to witness the re sults the youngsters have achiev ed through this program, jointly sponsored by Red Cross and the recreation committee. Mulkey says that four Corvall' high school students were responsible for a series of explosions that have rocked the Oregon coast recently. The four, whose names were withheld, had mixed up their own brand of nitro glycerin in experi menting with information they had picked up in Chemistry classes at school, Mulkey siad. The concoction was carried in dry ice, the police sergeant added, to prevent premature explosion. Ramp On His 100th Birthday SALEM, July 20 -4JP) B.F. Ramp, who came to Oregon 97 years ago, will be honored next Sunday on his 100th birthday. He lives at Brooks, nine miles north of here, in a convalescent home. The Brooks Garden club will have a reception for him Sun day afternoon. Ramp was brought from Illinois by his parents in a covered wagon when he was three years old in 1853. He was a farmer, and lived in the Brooks area ever since he came here. i Three of his four children are I still living. They are Willard Ramp ol Brooks, R. D.
