The Newt-Review, Roieburg, Ore. Wed., July 12, 1950 Winston By MRS. GEORGE BACHER Mr. and Mrs. Carl Borgacs and family have as their house guests Mrs. L. A. Sproul and son. Con rad, of Beaverlon. Mrs. Sproul, who is Borgaes' sister, will return home this week and Conrad will stay in Winston for the remainder of the summer vacation. Mrs. Bill Stutsman was sur prised on her birthday, June 28, when a group of friends called to wish her "many happy returns." Visiting was enjoyed and refresh ments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Atwell and son, Den nis, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bor gaes and two sons. Art Gastorf, who is on a week's vacation from his position with the St. Helens' Woodworking corp oration in Roseburg, made a trip to Portland Thursday, where he received medical attention. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Stonebraker. who are attending summer school at the Southern Oregon Normal school in Ashland, spent the week end at their home in Winston. Both are employed as teachers at the Green school. The Winston Community club met Thursday evening, July 20, at the Community hall. After i brief business session the meeting was turned over to Mrs. Dennis At well, who was in charge of the program for the evening. Mrs. Atwell was assisted by Mrs. Carl Borgaes in conducting a quit con test. Prizes were awarded the winners and refreshmen.s were served. Mrs. Jim Sims was in charge of the refreshment com-, mittee. The remainder of the evening was spent in square danc ing. The next meeting of the club is scheduled for Thursday, July 20, at 8 p.m. All members are urged to be present. Both men are employed with Copco in tne ToKetee falls area. i OGEB I Wilbur By ELSIE BROSZIO Charlie Schroeder has returned to his home in Wilbur with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sands, after spending a month in Dixon, Calif., visiting relatives. F. H. Todhunter of Todds grocery in south Wilbur has gone to Port land for a few days on business. Mr. and Mrs. lorn Bnnniger have gone to Winfield, Kan., on a three weeks' vacation to visit their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Patterson and daughter spent the Fourth as din ner guests of Mr. Patterson's broth er and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Patterson, at Sutherlin. Mrs. Everett Eliason is spend ing a few days in Portland, shop ping and visiting relatives. Mrs. bi Nash and daughter, Ruth Mary, of San Francisco, Calif., spent a few days at the Si Nash home in Wilbur and have gone on to Alaska to spend a month visiting at the home of Mrs. Nash's sister and family. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hill are the parents of a son. Larry Douglas. weight 7 lbs. 7 oz., born July 4, at Mercy Hospital in itoseourg. Mr. ana Mrs. Raymond Davis and family of Halsey, have rented the Vernon LaRaut home in west Wilbur, formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. James LaRaut, who have moved to Melrose to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Scharmon and family have rented the home of Mrs. Vilia LaRaut in Roseburg. Mrs. Scharmon is a teacher in the Wilbur school system. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Thomas and daughter Stevie have taken a few days vacation and motored to crater Lake and points o interest. The Wilbur ladies' and men's soft ball teams were defeated by the umpqua teams Sunday, July 2. The ladies' team had the misfor tune to have one of their players injured. Mrs. Madora Hollinger fell and suffered a badly sprained anKie. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hill spent tne nonaays in needsport, visiting at tne nome or Mrs. mil s daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs.- Bob-Fox' and family. Mr. and Mrs.- Orville Walv of Roseburg have moved into the Hoi comb apartment, vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Russell Buker, who have moved to Winchester, to make ineir nome. Anton Larson is leaving by way of the coast and on to Minnesota to make his home. Larson is orig inally lrom Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Kingley of Win chester are moving into the apart ment vacated by Larson. Kingley is employed by Sutherlin Timber mill in Sutherlin. .Otltl.
