Smith was arrested Tuesday by city police on a private cornolaim signed by Horace (Dick) Deber nardi, following an accident in which Smith's car struck Deber nardi's car and another owned by an unidentified Californian, accord ing to Police Chief Calvin H. Baird Debernardi's vehicle was damaged to the extent of $40 to $50. Baird said. Damage to the California car was not learned. Drunken Driver, Auto Companion Are Fined A fine of $225 and a sentence of 30 days in the county jail were imposed on Jetty Thorn, 35, of Yreka, Calif., on a drunken driv ing charge according to Justice of the Peace A. Municipal Band Dates Concert The Roseburg Municipal band will present its second in a series of summer concerts at the Library park Thursday at 8 p.m.. The pro gram will consist of a variety of I numbers, including marches, walti- es, overtures ana seieiruuns. tzes, overtures and selections. Director Clyde Moore announced the following program for the con cert: "Star Spangled Banner," "Bombasto," march, O. R. Farrar; "Dessert Song," Sigmund Rom berg; "Washington Greys," match, C. S. Grafulla; "Lutspiel," over ture. Keler-Bcla: "MacNamara'a Band," Shamus O'Conner; "En chanted Night," waltz, K. King; "The Magic Melody," Sigmund Romberg, and "Little Giant" march, by H. Moon. The band now numbers 30 mem bers, including four girls. This is the first time that number of the feminine sex has appeared in the band. Moore, who is directing for the first time tnis year, stressed that women and girls are desired, and that the band is not limited to men. about half its number of older, "tried and true" musicians, who have been playing "for the enjoy ment of playing" for several years, said Moore. The remaining mem bers are mostly students just out of high school. The purpose of the band, Moore stressed, is to "entertain the peo ple who enjoy good music and to play their requests." Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Roses, Rose burg Funeral home Thursday, July 13, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Myrtle Creek. She was born March 13, 1884 at Hugoton, Kas., and came to Ore gon 30 years ago. She has resided in Myrtle Creek for the last 10 years and was a member of the Myrtle Creek Christian church Surviving are the widower, Charles L., of Myrtle Creex: daughter, Mrs. Roy Carte of Myr tle Creek; and a son, J. G. Barber, of Distort? Ore. The family has requested that flowers bo omitted. Juvenile Grange's Camp Scheduled Juvenile Grange members from all over the state will assemble at the Skylinercamp, 12 miles west of Bend, Aug. 1-6, for their annual State Grange summer camp. Applications for the camp are to be sent by July 25 to Mrs. Helen Roberta of Reedsport, in charge of I the camp program this year. Any i juvenile Grange member who is ten years of age or older is eligible to attend the camp. Fee for the five-day period is $9. Classes in handicrafts, wood working and first aid will be offer- : ed, in addition to such activities as hiking, swimming and planned ' recreations. Evening programs will include Grange demonstration work, a lecture program and other recreation. Campers are asked to supply necessary clothing, toilet articles and bedding. The band rehearses each Tues day at 8 p.m. at the Elks temple. Some of the members have been more or less affiliated with the Elks, playing as the Elks band during the winter. The first appearance of the mu sicians publicly this year was dur ing the Fourth of July fireworks display at the fairgrounds.
