Co Install i ' r 9 Centennial Event, Rodeo Held At Yoncalla On 4th The centennial celebration and rodeo, held is Yoncaili July 2, i and 4 drew one of the largest crowds in the history of the town. The celebration started Sunday , morning, July J, with a joint church service of the Yoncalla Church of : Christ and the Yoncalla Methodist : group held in the grade school gym. The combined choirs furimh i ed special music and both Rev, Ey- ari of the Methodist church and i Rev. Smith of the Church of Christ i delivered short sermons on "Pis i neering in Christianity." The stage ! of the gym was decorated with red, ! white and biue crepe paper and i bouquets of flowers. Oa Monday, old homecormns i day, a short program was enjoyed in the grade school gym. A baseball game between Yon calla and Oakland was played dur ing the nfternson, with Oakland winning. In the evening, the Yon calla Lions club, dressed in wom en's clothes, played a Softball game with the Drain Lions club. The money raised by this game wiH provide transportation for the chil dren of Yoncaila to go to the Drain swimming .pssi during the warm days. One of the finest parades ever seen in Yoncalla was held Fourth of July morning. Yoncalla outdid itself in floats, with most of the merchants -participating. Creswell Saddle club and Sutnerlin Trail Dust Kiders carrying banners followed. Mare than 108 horses and their riders were in the parade.
