Mr. and Mrs. Oliver A Durand
Marriage vows were exchanged
Monday morning. May 29, at ten
o'clock at St Joseph's Catholic
church by Miss Delcres Sterns and
Oliver A. Durand, with Father
Edmund Hyland officiating in the
presence of a large group of re
latives and friends. The double
ring ceremony was used. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Byron W. Sterns of Roseburg and
the bridegroom is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Felix A,- Durland, also
of this city.
The bride wore a gown of white
moire taffeta fashioned Princess
style with long sleeves. Her fin
gertip veil was held in place by

TRAVIS WILSON IS
HONORED AT FAREWELL
AND BIRTHDAY PARTY
Travis Wilson, ho left Sunday
for San Diego to enter boot camp,
was honored with a combination
farewell and birthday party to
mark his 17th birthday at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arch
ie Wilson, of Winston, Saturday
evening, Large bouquets of roses
were used about therooms and
a group of interesting games were
led by the hostess, Mrs. Wilson.
At the close of the evening a
beautifully decorated birthday cake
was cut in his honor and guests
bonnet. A spray of stcphanotis out
lined the headdress. She carried a
white prayer book topped with an
arrangement of gardenias and
satin ribbons.
Miss Stella Durand, sister of the
bridegroom, was maid of honor
and Miss Norma Lee Pinard was
bridesmaid. They wore yellow and
lavender emboridered organdy
gowns with contrasting headbands
of sweetpeas and ribbon. They,
carried bouquets of sweetpeas.
Jack Harkin was best man and
Erick Olsen was usher.
The bride's mother wore a red
suit with a corsage of red car
nations. The bridegroom's mother
wore a floral suit with a corsage
of white carnations.

Her corsage was of .gardenias.
Both the bride and bridegroom
were graduated from Roseburg
high school. The latter is employed
in construction work in this vici
nity and upon their return from

ried a nosegay of roses. Mrs. Ver

Mrs. C. Wayne Fraser of Seat
tle, aunt of the bride, was in
charge of the floral arrangements,
which included baskets of calls lil
lies and a bouquet of pastel shaded
roses and pinks which graced the
lace covered serving taole.
Mrs. T. A. Dundas, grandmoter,
of the bride, had charge of the
guest book and Mrs. Ben Benson,
mother of the groom, poured and

ternoon many of her friends call
ed to congratulate her on her
birthday. She received many gifts.
A long-time resident of Douglas
county, Mrs. Murray was married
in 1880 at Camas Valley, moving
there thd previous year.
She has three daughters, Mrs.
Story lies, of Roseburg, Mrs. Lela
Stacey of Sacramento, and Mrs.
Clara Baker, also of Sacramento,
who is spending a month here with
her mother.

Northside Sunshine club meeting
Thursday at the home of Mrs.
William Stiewig. Lilies decorated
the table. A social afternoon fol
lowed and Miss Barbara Irving
was presented a birthday gift.
Pollyanna gifts were exchanged.
High prize at games was won by
Mrs. Phil Hart. Others winning
were Miss Barbara Irvin and Mrs.
R. D. Parson.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT-MIss Mollio Lu Moats, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Moats of this city, has been selected by Zonta club
in Corvallis to receive a Zonte scholarship award. She was guest of
honor at a monthly meeting held recently at Hotel Benton by the
Corvallis club, Zonta International. Miss Moats, who was graduated
from Corvallis high school this month, claims an outstanding activity
record for her school years. She has been a member of Girls League,
Trl-HI-Y, a member of the senior council and Albany-Corvallis rela
tions committee, rally squad and Peppers. In addition Miss Moats is
past worthy advisor of St.. Mary's assembly No 16, Order of Rainbow
for girls, in Corvallis and Is grand patriotism for the State of Oregon
assembly. She plans to enter Oregon State college In the fall.

Mrs. Carl E. Wimberly Jr., was celebreted at a charming party Mon
day, June 26, in the Garden et the homo of her paternal grandparents.
Judge and Mrs. Carl E. Wimberly Sr. Swings and sandboxes on the
patio were enjoyed by the guests, who were all two-year elds with the
exception of the guest of honor's four.year old brother. Mothers of the

CELEBRATE FORTIETH
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
An enjoyable time was had at
the Wayne Smith home at Med
ford, when the family of Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Barnes of Sutherlin
gathered for several days' to cele
brate the fortieth wedding anni
versary of Mr. and Mrs. Barnes,
which occurred June 16.
All the children of the honor
guests were present. Mrs. Wayne
(rhclma) Smith, at whose home
the group was entertained is the
only daughter. Her family consists
of her husband, Mr. Smith, a son
and daughter.
