Urii BY EDEN LADIES AID A Sunday school picnic was plan ned for August 16 at the Eden Ladies Aid meeting .held Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Olson. Mrs. Vera Math- ewman and Mrs. Leora Andrews hostesses. Rev. Willis Erickson read for the devotions in the book of Na hum. "Sweet Hour of Prayer." "Tell Me the Old, Old Story" and "Sing Them Over Again For Me," were sung, followed by prayer. A program was held Friday evening at the church by the chil dren taking part in the vacation Bible school. Refreshments were served later. Plans have been made by the Aid for a pie and ice-cream social to be held at the church Saturday evening, July 8. Following a social hour, lovely refreshments were served to Rev. The Cottage Grove emblem team, led by Mrs. Alice Breedlove installed the new officers of tne Yoncalla club.. New officers are: President, Mrs. Jean Cowan. Sec retary, Mrs. Lydia Emery, and treasurer, Mrs. Louise Snider. The team also initiated the following new members into the Yoncalla club; Mrs. Dora Denner, Mrs. Lois Lsiftudia find mis. Lfeaiis Chap man. Two special Cottage Grove visi tors were among those present, Grace Armstrong and Anette Al len, both members of the San Diego, Calif., club. Miss Allen is a charter member of that club. A spirited exchange of activities and experiences of the two clubs was given by past president, Mrs. Lavada Crawford of Yoncalla and Lottie Lee Lamb of Cottage Grove. Guests from Cottage Grove were Alice Breedlove, Hazel Tohlem, Lucy Raney, Vivian Barkemy'er, Lenore Pyburn, Dorothy Schaffner, Nancy Robbins, Lottie Lee Lamb Edna Pillar. Kittie Jobe, Dora Benner, Iva Cowan, Helen Abbott, and Lydia Emery. FRIENDLY HOUR CLUB MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY The Melrose Friendly Hour club met Wednesday with Mrs. Cecilia Kenyon. The day was spent in tex tile painting and other handwork. Potluck luncheon was enjoyed at noon and plans made for the an nual picnic to be held after church, July 2 at the Fenn grove. The next business meeting has been postponed until the afternoon of July 12 at the home of Mrs. Lou Nye. Roll call subject will be outstanding July 4 of the mem bers. Mrs. Clara Herrman will be in charge of the program. Present were the Mesdames Clara Herrman, Minnie Jacobson, Ellen Hofman, Treva Jones, Katie Conn, Norma .Fenn, Alma Greer, Mildred Bonebrake, Grace Fenn and the hostess. UTAH VISITOR HAS SIXTH BIRTHDAY Master Glade Shulsen of Midvale, Utah, is celebrating his sixth birth day at the home of his great grand mother. Mrs. Minnie b. Koberts on the Coos Bay highway near Olalla. Others celebrating the oc casion include his mother, Mrs, Darrell Shulsen; his brother, La mar; grandmother, Mrs. Marie Shulsen, and aunt, Mrs. Grace 0' Keefe and Marty and Judy 0' Keefe. REBEKAH LODGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING TUESDAY EVENING The Roseburg Rebekah lodge No. 41 initiated four candidates at theii meeting Tuesday evening in the I.O.O.F. hall. Two guest candi dates, Irene Walker and Annie Walker, from Riddle Relief Lodge No. 185, and two Roseburg candi dates, Italia Harrison and Juanita Long, were initiated. The Riddle Relief Lodge was well represented with nineteen mem bers attending. Six visitors from Sutherlin and one each from Elk ton and San Jose, California, also attended the meeting. The commissions for Advisor and Assistant Advisor of the Alpha Zeta Theta Rho girls have been re ceived. Blanche Marr will be Ad visor and Mary Curtis Assistant Advisor. It was announced that practice for installation of officers will be at 7:30 July 10, and all the new officers are asked to be present. An invitation was extended by the Sutherlin JxtAam in iHanJ th.i. public installation of officers at !: inursaay, July 6. NEW IDIACLUI MEETS AT POTLUCK DINNER WEDNESDAY , The New Idea club of Sutherlin enjoyed a delightful potluck dinner at the lovely home of Mrs. Betty Smith, on East Central Avenue, Wednesday. The lace-covered table was centered with a low arrange ment of summer flowers. - - Covers were placed for: Mrs. Maggie' Francis, Mrs. Minnie Abeene, Miss Ethel Manning, Mrs. Bonnie Bennett, Mrs. Marjorie Den ley, Mrs. Meryl Wahl, Mrs.- Lola Rose, Mrs. Lola Rehwalt and the hostess, Mrs. Smith.
