This activity is another : made possible by the contribution ! to the Community Chest. The name ! was suggested by Bob Geddes. He ! will be given a prize on the open ing day, June 27. This program is for boys eight to 13 years of age. Many different activities are planned in an effort to satisfy the interests of the par ticipants. Excursions and hikes will be taken, sports and various games played. Talks will be given on different subjects, and many other things will be done. The program will originate at Umpqua park, generally, unless an excursion is to be taken in Rose- burg. All boys are urged to attend this first day. This will be the day that the summer activities will hi; determined. On Tuesday, June 7, the boys will meet at Umpqua park at 9:30 a.m. Yoder added thct all boys should bring prepared lunches. Washington Man To Die For Death Of Farmer COLFAX, Wash., June 21 (Pi Grant E. Rio, 27, was sentenced Tuesday to hang for the murder of an eastern Washington farmer and a laborer on the farm. The death penalty was ordered by a Whitman county jury April 1. Rio was convicted of murdering James Beckner, the farmer, and Joseph Roberge, the farm work er. Cooper allegedly received a per sonal injury which caused his death on Feb. 24, 194. Be was insuivj at the time of the accident by the defendant corporation, who refused to honor the plaintiff's claim. A. W. Bashford, doing business as Douglas County Flour Mill, has filed suit against Albert D. iiiil and Lura M. Hill asking judgment for $509.16 allegedly due on a.prom issory note. . Circuit Judge Carl E. Wimberly has awarded a judgment for the plaintiffs, J. W. Reed and Rose Reed, in a suit against Ethel L. Martin, Arno J, Melchior, Bertha M. Melchior and Henery ShirtcUff. The involved sum is for $6,708 49, allegedly due on a mortgage. The court ordered the mortgage fore closed if the judgment is not paid within 30 days.
