There will be no church service next Sunday, June 18. at the Meth odist church. The Reverend Gilbert H. Kewland is attending the Meth odist conference at Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Arlev Marsh at tended the wedding of his nephew, Howard Harpole, to Janet Gib- hardt at Lorvams on .Sunday. The Elkton-Creswell baseball game was called off on account of the wet weather and will be played at a later date. Next Sun day the Elkton Townies will be host to the Mapleton team. Game time is 2 p.m. Llrs. William Owens, who is past 91, fell and bruised her shoulder badly last Saturday. Two of her great grandchildren are staying with her now. They are Bill and Ruth McMichael of Springfield. Mrs. Carl Binder is to bring her son Benton home from the hospi tal Tuesday, Benton had an emer gency appendectomy Friday after noon, and is doing fine. Loyal and Rodger Bossen visited their father Henry Bossen at the Veterans hospital last Sunday and report that "Hank" is cheerful and getting along fine. Walter Sanders who was recently injured in an automobile accident is still is a hospital in Boise. Rodger Bossen moved his house hold furniture from Portland into one of Bill Bunch's cabins. Mrs Walter Sanders brought Mrs. Rodger Bossen and children down to live on Wednesday. Dr. and Mrs. Lindon Taylor ar rived Tuesday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Workman of Scottsburg. He has been attending Hill Military academy at Portland. Peret Shows Film I Of Alaska Hunting "Hunting in Alaska." a sound' motion picture produced for the Nash Motor Car Co., was shown' to the Roseburg Kiwanis club Tues day noon in the Hotel Umpqua by bus reret ot toncaua. Peret was the "hunter" in the motion picture, and his guide was Max Shellenbarger, formerly of the North Umpqua. The hunters were flown in by plane, with accompanying movie equipment, but the entire film por trayed the experiences of Peret and his guide. But, said Peret, this was the first time on a hunting expe rience that he was told "when and where to shoot." This was his 27th hunting trip to Alaska, and he has also hunted in Africa. The film showed the stalking and killing of a bull moose, huge bear and caribou. The narration and music accompaniment lent addi tional drama to the hunter's expe riences, in the rugged area, part of which was snow covered, 125 miles northwest of Anchorage. luncheon followed by a style re vue. Music during the sessions was a highlight. During the men's breakfast Tuesday morning the forthcoming Shakespearian festival at Ashland was publicized. The 1951 state conclave is scheduled for Baker.
