Junior High 8th Grade Promotion Slated Monday The eighth grade of Roseburg junior high school will be promoted to senior high school in special exercises Monday, June 5, at 8 p.m. at the junior high auditorium. The public is invited to attend and will be allowed access to seats after 7:45 p.m. Parents and rela tives are asked to arrive before that time. The program will be as follows: Processional "Priest's March" by the junior high advanced band un der the direction of Clyde Moore and E. G. Detective Jack Lamed said Jones and another man had ar gued about who had the most money. The second man was arrested and found to be penniless when searched at the city jail. Air Force Accepts New Jet Aircraft LOS ANGELES -UP) The Air Force has accepted a combination bomber-reconnaissance plane pow ered by four jets, product of North American Aviation Corp. Built for day and night recoil' naissance. including charting, nhn. tographing and mapping, the plane is in tne 55u-mile-an-hour class, can climb to 40,000 feet and has a range of more than 1,200 miles She carries a crew of three. The plane has been designated the RB-45C. Her jets have a thrust of 20,800 pounds. She has a wing span of 89 feet, is 75 feet long and 25 feet high; carries ejector seats for pilot and co-pilot and an escape hatch for the navigator. TWO ARE FINED Justice of the Peace A. J. June 3 -im George Marshall, national chair man of the Civil Rights congress, Friday began a three months' fed eral jail sentence imposed for con tempt -of the House in 1946. Marshall was cited four years ago for refusing to turn over to Uie House Un-American Activities committee a list of contributors to the National Federation for Con stitutional Liberty. The organiza tion, of which Marshall was chair man, was a forerunner of the Civil Rights congress. He was convict ed and sentenced in 1948. Government authorities said they also plan to bring others involved in contempt of Congress charges into district court to begin serving jail sentences or dispose of their cases.
