Pfc. Neal Stewart, 22. of Bir mingham, Ala., blamed his unsuc cessful attempt on the small size of the "drop zone" a grassy area at the airport here. He said he missed the "drop zone" eight 'lines, landing once in a ditch and e times on the runway. However, he escaped without se rious injurv. Stewart had set his sights on making 76 jumps, one more than the number claimed May 18 by a Yugoslavian in London. That claim, however, has been superseded by Argentina, where one jumper has laid claim to 105 jumps in a single day. A Story Of Little Iceland And Its Delegate To Bret ton Woods Meeting By SIGRID ARNE AP Foreign Affairs Analyst For DeWITT MacKENZIE -Today I want to tell you a little "one world" story from the Bretton Woods conference of July 1944. It's about the gentle, blue-eyed men and women who made up the Icelandic delegation to the meet ing up in New Hampshire where the world bank and fund set up. The problems were complicated, and for a month delegates and press alike worked both day and night. But one evening the U.S. State department called a halt and put on an American movie. I sat with the big pink-cheeked president of the Bank of Iceland. We chatted before the picture. , Miss Arne." he said. "I am now going through your magni ficent American literature. Riddle, will be graduated June 14 from Carnegie institute of t echnology, Pittsburgh, Pa., with a degree in printing engi neering and management. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. Cloud, he is preparing to follow in the foot steps of his father, who retired recently after 54 years in the print ing trade. The Cloud family has long been identified with the Rid dle community. Robert Cloud is a graduate of Elma, Wash., high school and Grays Harbor junior "college at Aberdeen. He spent four years in Australia and the Pacific theater during the late tfar. He served his printer's apprenticeship and se cured his ITU journeyman's card at the Elma Chronicle, Elma, Wash., prior to entering Carnegie institute. FLOWER SHOW BECKONS Roseburg flower lovers are in vited by the Men's Garden club of Albany. Ore., to attend the third annual Peony and Flower show to be held at Albany, June 3 and 4. The exhibit is scheduled for the Browrn Auto Go. show rooms from 2 p. m. to 9:30 p. m. on opening day and from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m. Sunday. Young of Roseburg. who left a week ago for the east on their annual summer vacation, have ar rived in Detroit, Mich., according to word received here. They will pick up a new car in Detroit and visit in Michigan and Wisconsin, prior to returning to Roseburg. Wengers Arrive In Chicago Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wenger, Roseburg, who left her a week ago Sunday for the east, have arrived in Chi cago and will attend the Wenger family reunion Decoration day. They made the trip by automobile and had to stop over in Cheyenne Wyo., for a few days on account of a heavy snowfall. "They xpect to be vacationing a month. Enlov Trio to Crater Lake Dr, and Mrs. E. W. Carter and three daughters. Susan. Clayre and Lin da, of Roseburg enjoyed a trip to Crater Lake and back over Sun day. They made the trip by the Tiller Trail cut-off and report the road in excellent condition. Weath er at the lake was reported to be warm and sunny. Son Is Born A son, Richard Hor ace, weighing eight pounds, was born Sunday, May 28, at Sacred Heart hospital in Medford, to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Sears of Med ford. Mr. Sears is recreational di rector at Camp White. The baby is the first to be born to a Camp White staff member. Mrs. Scars is the former Annabcll Berg of Roseburg. The baby is the first grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Horace C. Berg of Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. Berg drove to Medford today to see him. The body will lie in state at the Long Si Orr Mortuary until Tuesday eve ning. Mr. boodell was born October 20. i 1901. in Wisconsin. He was married at Kelso, Washinglm, December 24, 1925 to Florence Bircher.
