April 23, there will be special celebration of the Holy Communion at St George'i Epis copal church. Roseburg, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Ernest S. Bartlam, rector of St. Mary's church, Eugene. The celebrant will be the local rector. the Rev. Alfred S. Tyson. The choir will sing the service music by Healey Willan, and the anthem, "Now God be praised in heav'n above," by Melchior Vulpius. An open house will be held in the rectory, 228 East Cass, from 3 to 6 in the afternoon, for all mem bers of the parish and friends. The married couples group will meet in the evening, with program and re freshments being planned by Mrs. Mae Mathews and Mrs. Frank Woodworth. St. George's parish is celebrating the 90th anniversary of its first services this year, the first services having been held here in July, 1860. The present church property was also purchased that same year from Aaron Rose for the sum of $50. In addition to being the patron saint of the local parish, Saint George is the patron saint of Eng land, and his festival is widely cel ebrated throughout the empire, be ing in the calendar of the Church of England and other churches of the Anglican communion. Douglas County I. O. O. F. Association Holds Meet The I 0 0 F. Association of Doug las county met at the home of Mrs. Harry Barker on East Fourth avenue in Sutherlin Sunday. Representatives were present from the Odd Fellows and Rebek ah lodge of Myrtle Creek and Rose burg and the Rebekahs of Suther lin. Many Items of business were brought before the meeting, dis cussed and placed on file. Plans are underway to re-, organ ize an Odd Fellows lodge in Suth erlin and anyone interested is asked to contact Alva Manning by telephone, or write Oakland, Ore , Route 1, Box 94. The next meeting will be held May 7 at Roseburg and all offi cers and members who are inter ested are urged to attend.
