Bleile, co-chairmen, are receiving congratulations from the Roseburg Woman's club, and the many hundreds of persons attending the annual spring flower show of the club held Wednesday and Thursday in the Methodist church parlors. Committees of the club assisted with the affair and also arranged numerous displays, according to Mrs. J. M. Boyles, club president. Highlight of the two-day affair was the garden scene arranged by Mrs. Kenneth Ford, president of the Garden department of the club, who entered the exhibit as a special display of the Garden department. Moore's Nursery furnished the background for the scene. Mrs. Otho Gosncll, Mrs. Ernest L. Dawe, Mrs. Kenneth Bushey and Mrs. Powell were among the many assisting. Mrs. Horace C, Berg and Mrs. Paul Jenkins had charge of special feature tables. Mrs. R. L. Whipple also had charge of a special table. Dishes and silver were furnished by Lawson's Jewelry store and Mrs. R. L. Whipple. Features of the two-day show included a plant sale in charge of Mrs. W. H. Carter and Mrs. Sig Fett and a candy sale in charge of Mrs. E. J: Sullivan and Miss Alice Ueland. Mrs. Velle Broadway, Mrs. L. W. Josse and Mrs. E. E. Maurer were in charge of camellias; Mrs. P. E. Beaver and Mrs. L. F. Nielsen in charge of daffodils and narcissi; Mrs. Roy Byrd, special arrangements; Mrs. Clifford Smith, hostesses, and Mrs. Vance Eager and Mrs. Earl Plummer, primroses. Special thanks is extended by the club to C. E. Moyer, prominent Douglas county nurseryman, who has assisted with the show for years. Mr. Moyer has done much to arouse interest among gardeners of Douglas county as he was the first to introduce camellias to flower lovers here. His large display won the admiration of everyone at tending the show. A large number of club members had displays, which included one entire table by Mrs. Foster Butner. Non-members of the club assisting with beautiful exhibits included Dr. B. R. Shoemaker, S. J. Shoemaker, Umpqua Florist, Martin Nursery, Mrs. Walter Edmonds, The Days Creek Garden club, Mrs. H. T. Hansen, Mrs. W. E. Buell, Mrs. L. E. Shinn, George P. Hinsdale, Mrs. Gordon Stewart, Mrs. Luella Cunningham, Mrs. Peter Cornutt, Mrs. 0. R. Pollard, Mrs. Al Boiler, Mrs. L. L. Wimberly, Mrs. Mary Black, Mrs. Jack Gorthy and Mrs. Peter Adams. The show is reported to be one of the largest sponsored by the club and most certainly proved to be one of the most beautiful. Hostesses for the affair were Mrs. Kenneth Bushey, Mrs. Walter Fisher, Mrs. Harry F. Hatfield, Mrs. Lloyd Hayes, Mrs. Clifford E. Smith, Mrs. Kenneth Ford, Mrs. Otho Gosnell, Mrs. Lester F, Nielsen, Mrs. V. T. Jackson, Mrs. Frank Bistak and Mrs. Herman Aydelott. The program, "Drama" was given by Mrs. Don Wilson with members taking part in several demonstrations of "Pantomime." Mrs. Sims will be assisted by Mrs. John Todd, vice president; Mrs. Clarence DeCamp, recording secretary; Mrs. John Gardner, cor responding secretary; Mrs. Marcus Brown, treasurer; Mrs. Eugene Powell, city council representative and Mrs. Helen Cordon, alternate. Assisting the hostesses were Mrs. Helen Cordon and Mrs. Ray Puckett. Refreshments were served to the Mcsdames Jack Fariss, Jr., Sidney Fredrickson, John Gardner, Clarence DeCamp, Harry Harris, Eugene Krewson, Eugene Powell, Robert Rennie, Ray Sims, John Todd, Don Wilson, Charles Williamson, H. C. Church, and Meredith Wilson. The next meeting to be held at the Harry Harris home, April U at S p. m., will feature Mrs. Hedwig Watzig as guest speaker. She will tell of her recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands and those desiring to bring guests are requested to contact Mrs. Ray Puckett. Assisting Mrs. Harris will be Mrs. Jack Cummins and Mrs. Don' Wilson. f . if . .eat bAW efcit Betrothal Told By Parents Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ronk of Myrtle Creek have announced the betrothal of their daughter, Miss Patricia Ann, to Richard Dale Weekly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Weekly of Myrtle Creek.
