Bratton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bratton, all of Sutherlin, were married Friday evening. Feb ruary 24 at eight o'clock at the Christian Church parsonage. The Rev. Lloyd Whitford, pastor of the Christian church read the ceremony with Mr. and Mrs. Car Ian P. Bratton attending the cou ple. Relatives of the couple at tended. The bride selected a pink satin afternoon gown and wore a cor sage of gardenias. Letson Wedding vows were read last Sunday afternoon at First Congre gational church in Eugene, for Miss Mary Lou Harris of Cres wcll, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Hsrris of that city, to Richard M. Letsom of Drain, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Letsom, also of Drain. Dr. W esley Good son Nicholson read the service at three o'clock. White stock and yellow acacia were combined in baskets at each side of the altar, and candelabra held white tapers. Luther S. Harris gave the bride in marriage. She wore a bridal gown of white satin with long train. The bodice was fitted, above a draped overskirt. and lace trim med the gown. Her three-quarter-length veil was edged with lace, and was held by a sweetheart crown. She carried a colonial bou quet of white orchids with shower of yellow rosebuds in white satin ribbon. PINK AND BLUf SHOWER HONORS CANYONVILLI RESIDENT RECENTLY Mrs. Lee Fisher and Mrs. Ralph Weaver of Canyonville, were joint hostesses at a pink and blue show er for Mrs. Dale Ham at the Fish er home recently. Bouquets of daf fodils were arranged around the rooms. A social iftemooa was enjoyed by playing games. Shower gifts Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Bratton of pink garbadina and a whitt carnation corsage. A reception followed the cere mony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Holm, The decorated wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Clarence Bratton. Mrs. Bud Halm presided at the bunch bowl. During the evening Mrs. Oale Turner played several aelections on the piano and accompanied Bud Holm, who sang "I Love You Tru ly." Guests attending the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Csrlan Brat ton, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Sealy Carson. Mr. and Mrs. Max Comstock, Mr. and Miss Dorothy Harris, sister of the bride was her maid of honor. She wore a gown of blue shadow lace and net over blue satin, with matching lace mitts, and carried a sheaf of daffodils and gardenias. Miss Louise Campbell, in apple green, and Miss Shirley Jailing, in rlnxtv rna. wore identical ffowna carried colonial bouquets of yellow carnations ringed with violets. Roland Letsom. twin brother of the groom, was his best man, and ushers were Eldoa Letsom and Leslie Smith. A reception was held in the Wheeler'Room after the ceremony. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Fred Clingan and Mrs. Gordon A. Wills. Punch wss served by Mrs. Leslie Smith and Misses Betty and Jean Tiedje. Mrs. Oswald Thiel had the guest book. Mrs. Clarence Bratton; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Bailey and daughter, Robena, of Oakland Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bailey and the host and hostess,, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Holm. Mr. and Mrs. Bratton are both well known in Sutherlin. The bride was grsduated from Sutherlin high school in the class of 1948 and is now employed at the Veterans hos pital in Roseburg. Mr. Bratton attended the local high school and spent two years in the army. He is now engaged in the logging busi ness in Sutherlin. They will make their home at the Twin Springs motel north of Sutherlin. PINOCHLE CLUB MEETS SATURDAY EVENING AT STAFFORD HOME Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Stafford en tertained their pinochle ebb at their home at 503 S. Mill street in Roseburg Saturday night. The rooms were decorated with spring flowers. High score was won by Mrs. Alvin Tipton and John Lan der, with Mrs. Steve Harryman winning consolation. Refreshments were served at midnight from a table decorated with a basket of double purple African Violets. Covers were plac ed for Mr. and Mrs. John Lander Jr. guests of the club in the ab sence of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lange who are touring the East and visit ing relatives in Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Harryman and son Stan ley, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tipton, Mrs. Cora Jackson, mother of Mr. Harryman also a guest, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Stafford. W. B. A. HAS FINE SOCIAL MEETING AT HERBAGE HOME THURSDAY The Woman's Benefit association held a fin social meeting Thurs day at the home of Mrs. Magda lene Herbage. Following the busi ness session and social hour, the hostess served delicious refresh ments. Mrs. Metta Squire was elected delegate to attend the state con vention at La Grande March 13-14. and will give her report at the next meeting to be held March 23 at two o'clock at the home of Mrs. Valdeen Bridges. Games will be enjoyed during the social hour. Members are asked to each bring a guest. LADY LIONS HOLD DINNER-MEETING AT CARL'S HAVEN MONDAY Mrs. Cecil Lowe, Mrs. I. W. Lowe and Mrs. W. H. Klatt entertained the Lady Lions at a seven o'clock dinner Monday evening at Carl's Haven. St. Patrick hats, green ta pers encircled with green ruffles and shamrocks formed the decora tions. DENTAL ASSISTANTS MEET AT POTLUCK SUPPER WEDNESDAY Umpqua District, Dental Assist ants association met at a delightful potluck supper Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. H. R. Augus tus. The St. Patrick's motif was beautifully carried out in the dec orations. Reports of the four members at tending the state convention in Portland were heard. Umpqua Dis trict placed first in th tab! clin ic, "A Standardized technique of inlay investment." The table clinic was arranged by Mra. Oscar Rolfs ness and Mrs. Kelsey Kite, who brought the first prize trophy home with them. The District's name is engraved on the trophy. Mrs. Edith White was appointed pin chairman. The nominating committee appointed im-luded Dr. Eleanore Carlson, Mrs. K. T. Brad ley and Mrs. H. R. Augustus. Roach, Mrs. Raymond Marr and Miss Mary Alice Wol ford. played, "Allegro Moderate" by Haydn's String quartet No. 35, Op. 64, No. 5. Others present were Mrs. C. K. Rand, Miss Gladys H. Strong, Mrs. F. C L MALITZ, Ovuo Celebrate 25th Frank Olson entertained March 3th from 7 to 10 at an open house, in honor of the silver wedding anniversary, of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Olson, at their home, 420 W. Douglaa afreet. The serving (able was very pretty with a Tare cloth and silver tapers. Around the room were bas kets of jonquils and silver candles. The beautiful three-tiered wed ding cake was cut by Mrs. Olson, who wore a blue formal and a rosebud corsage. Mr. Olson wore a grey suit with a white carna tion trimmed in silver as a bou tinniere. .. .. ... - - Mr. Ida Burr served the cake, with Miss Nrlda Norris at the punch howl, and Mrs. Marian Pat rick and Mrs. Ruth Plumer pre sided over the coffee urn. Mrs. Lou Marsters sssisted around the room. Janet Foster, in white, had charge of the gifts, while Donna Schaeffer, in yellow, took care of the guest book. All were attired in formats and had corsages of car nations and gardenias. Mrs. Flor. ance Norris and Mr. Ray Dead man helped in the kitchen. Assisting Frank, were his school friends, Don Campbell, Larry Burr, and Vic Sanders.
