International Mysteries Faced By French Police PARIS, March 17 f.'PV-French security police grappled today with three separate mysteries of possible international intrigue, in cluding the death of a man found carrying British Intelligence ser vice envelopes. The body of a man found by railroad tracks near Meti in east ern France yesterday was identi fied as Emile Stemmler, born in Neusatt, Germany, a naturalised British citizen since March 23, 1939. Envelopes of the British intel ligence service were found in the luggage by his body, police said. Death was due to a skull frac ture. At the Franco-Belgian border yesterday police arrested four Ciechoslovakian and Yugoslav cit izens. Police said that Stemmler was 81 years old, and that because of this they leaned to the theory he might not have been a secret agent on active service. He had a ticket to Strasbourg, and a passport valid for all European nations. They speculated he fell or jumped from the Metz-Strasbourg train. At Mulhouse, also in eastern France, police were trying to learn the real identity of a young Ger man girl arrested recently while trying to enter Switzerland secre tly. She bad given the name of Ingrid Von Buelov, and said her tamer was a general Von Bu-v, jailed in Holland. Dutch police have advised the French this is not true.
