Plans were made to hold a joint benefit card party with the Elks late in April. The nominating . committee appointed included Mrs. Frank Wickham, Mrs. Dale Al bright and Mrs. Ward Cummings. The next meeting will be March 23 at eight o'clock at the temple. SUTHERLIN TILLICUM BRIDGE CLUB ENTERTAINED BY JUANITA HOLGATI Rose colored camellias formed the setting Tuesday when Mrs. Juanita Holgate entertained the Sutherlin Tillicum bridge club at dessert one-thirty o'clock lunch eon at her home on East Third avenue. Small vases of daphne centered each card table with a larger table being centered with setting flanked by tall tapers. Covers were placed for Mra. Florence Groshong, Mra Elolse Lamoreaux, Mra. Leona Slack, Miss Mary Alice Randall, Mra. Olga Beilman, Mrs. Emma Carr, Mrs. Meryl Wahl, Mra. Lenora Payne, Mrs. Mary Barker, Mra. Lucille Chase, Mrs. Mabel Ran dall and the hostess, Mrs. Hol gate. Auction bridge was in play dur ing the afternoon with Mrs. Slack, winning high score: Mrs. Lamor eaux, second high; Mrs. Carr, low and Mrs, Chase, the traveling goose. The next meeting will be held In two weeks at the home of Mrs. Slack. FRIENDLY HOUR CLUB MEETING SCHEDULED The Friendly Hour club will meet at a noon potluck luncheon Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Cecelia Kenyon. All members are most cordially invited to be pre sent. PUBLIC INVITED TO ARTICIPATB IN SPRING FLOWER SHOW, MARCH 2 30 The Roseburg Woman's club has issued an invitation to the public to participate in the annual spring flower show, which will be an event of Wednesday and Thursday, March 29 30 at the Methodist church parlors. Everyone interest ed in gardening is invited to bave exhibits at this show. The show will open March 291 h and hours will be from one to nine o'clock and on Thursday, March 30th will be from ten in the morning to five o'clock in the af ternoon. Mr. R. L. Whipple and Mrs. Earl M. Bliele are general chair man of the sale wilh Mrs. W. H. Carter and Mrs. Sig Fett as co chairmen of the plant sale to be held in connection with the two day exhibit. All persona having plants and shrubs to donate to Ce club are asked to bring them to the Methodist church the morning of March 2. Mrs. Kenneth Ford, president of the Garden department, will have a apecial feature exhibit. Mrs. Horace C. Berg and Mrs. Paul Jenkins are arranging special table exhibits. Mra. C. W. Dishman will be in charge of registration and Mrs. Clifford E. Smith ia arrang ing for hostesses for the affiar Mrs. Vance Eager and Mra. Earl Plummer will have charge of the orimrose exhibits and Mrs Velle Broadway and Mrs. H. O. Pargeter will arrange camel lia exhibits with Mrs. P. E. Beaver and Mrs. L. F. Nielsen arrang ing daffodil exhibits. Mrs Roy Byrd ia chairman of special arrange menta and Mrs. B. H. Laird and Mrs. Fred A. Knight are chairmen of feature arrangements. Mrs. E. J. Sullivan and Misa Alice Ueland will act as chsirman of the candy sale. The public Is invited. There will be no admission charge as a free will offering ia taken to defray expenses for sponsoring the event. COUNTRY CLUB WOMEN PLAN SPRING BREAKFAST AT MEETING THURSDAY Women of the Roseburg Country club met Thursday for a noon luncheon at the clubhouse and to make plana for a spring breakfast to be an event of April 13 at nine- thirty o clock at the clubhouse. Members and their invited guests are asked. Bridge and canasta will be in play following the breakfast. An executive meeting was Held preceding the luncheon and was attended by the president, Mrs. W. C. Callison. Mrs. Walter Bryd ges, Mrs. W. F. Amiot, Mrs. James Hughes, Mrs. Harold E. Schmcer and Mrs. Kenneth Bailey. Others attending the noon luncheon were Mrs. Clyde Knight, Mrs. II. F. LeBeau, Mrs. Mitchell Moore, Mrs. Roy Sedcll, Mrs. E. R. Harvey and Mra. Herman Matisoff. The group will meet at a twelve thirty o'clock luncheon at the club house next Thursday, followed by by the contract bridge play at one o'clock. Those desiring transporta tion are asked to call Mrs, Roy Sedcll, 999 L. Contract bridge was in plsy dur ing the afternoon with Mrs. Amiot, Mrs. Matisnff and Mrs. Knight win ning high scores. HUBBARD CREEK SEWING CLUB IS ENTERTAINED The Hubbard Creek Sewing club met at Lucinda Gurney'a home, having a 12:30 Potluck lunch. A special feature at the club meet was a pink and blue shower honoring Mrs. Dale MrKerrin, daughter ef Mrs. Gurney. She was the recipient of several nice gills. Those present were: Mrs. Dale McFerrin, Mrs. Emery Bealtie and small son, of Oakland, Mrs. Paul Phillips of Sutherlin, Mrs. H. F Roeder, Mrs. Henry Teller and daughter, Mra. Ernest McKinnery, Mrs. Jessie Jones, Mrs. Wesley Geire, Mrs. Reeven Briggs, Mrs. Douglas Briggs and three small sons, Mrs. Roy Peery, Miss Mar tha Clarke. Mrs. Luanda burncy and Mrs. Elmer Olson. BAPTIST CHURCH SOCIETY ENJOYS VARIED ACTIVITIES AT MEETING THURSDAY Helen Hunt Circle of Woman's Missionary Society of First Bap tist church met Thursday after noon, March, 2 with Mrs. Calvin Baird in Kohlhagen apartments The meeting waa opened by Mra. Frank HoUingsworth president and the group sang a hymn. The Driv er waa given by Mrs. Louis Kohl hagen, Sr., Mrs. Maude Doughty gave devotions from First John 14, 1-10. on the subject, "Our Father's House," and closed with a prayer. A trio composed of Mra. Louis Marino, Mra. G. E. Ayers, and Mrs. Bud Hager ling "Savioua Like a Shepherd Lead Us." For the missionary program Mra. G. E. Ayera gave a reading "He Took It Upon Himself." Mrs. Doughty gave reading "When the Bee Stung Mother." The business meeting was In charge of the president and at this time ahe was presented a "wel come home cake" after a trip to California. Mra. W. O. Gildersleeve closed the meeting with a prayer. Plans were made for a St. Pat rick's party, to be held March IT at the Elgarose achool. Cards will be played and prizes awarded and refreshments served.
