MELROSE CLUB PLANS SATURDAY SMORGASBORD Plans for a smorgasbord, to be held Saturday, Feb. 11 from 6:30 until s p.m. were made at the Melrose Home Economics club meeting at the home of Mrs, Mable Busenbark. They have a daughter, Susie, six years old, and two sons, Bobby, three and one-half and Jimmy, age 2. Gardening is her hobby. Mrs. Walter Welker, queen can didate from Alpha Iota chapter, resides with her husband their son, David Lee, a student in the third grade at Rose school, at 600 S. Jackson street. Mr. Welker Is engaged in cattle raising with his father. Mrs. Welker has sew ing for her hobby. She is a mem ber of Lady Elks and Lady Lions. NEW 4 H CLUB IS ORGANIZED The Busy Bachelor's 4-H Sew ing club began their sewing pro jects at their first meeting Fri day afternoon with the local club leader, Mrs. Thelma Hanson in charge, Donald Hanson, vice pre sident, conducted the business meeting. Songs were led by Dick Brown. Attending were Dick Brown, Dickie Sjogren, Donald Hanson and Joe Sand. The next meeting will be Feb. 10. Talking About a Home? Communion will be heid at 11 followed by luncheon at 12 noon and the business meeting. A 1 1 ladles of the church are invited to participate. Mrs. Clarke will tell of her trip to Europe. The program had been scheduled at an earlier date and canceled because of bad weather. The large dining room table was centered with a fern and other potted plants. S Youth Injured In Leap From House To Escape Flames One youth was Injured and a.v other escaped unhurt In a leap from a second story window to escape the flames that enveloped the W. T. Harbour home at Glen dale early Saturday. Donald Harbour sustained cuts on the face, an injured eye and shoulder injuries, when he Jump, ed from the upstairs of the two story frame house. He was tak en to a Grants Pass hospital. Donald and Dale McDIarmld, staying with the Harbours, woke up about 6:40 a.m. to find the house ablaze and their escape cut off. They were forced to jump from the window. Donald's parents, his brother, John, and Ruby Dierick, staying in the home, all escaped. Two dogs, however, suffocated. . Fire Chief J. R. Cox reported It took 30 minutes to get the flames under control. Vic Hayes, a volunteer fireman living near by, turned in the alarm. Origin of the fire, which started in the rear of the first floor was unde termined. The house, badly dam aged by the blaze, was partially covered by. Insurance. .
