.The Dark Chain." In eplte of every attempt to throw him
off the track In finding a double murder, George Valentine
putt the finger on the guilty party. (Tonight 8 to 8:30).
The most ambitious 1949 Christmas campaign In radio has
been launched by Carlton E. Morse, producerwrlter-dlrector of
Mutual Don Lee's "I Love a Mystery" program, for nation-wide
support of an international Santa Claus project to provide clothes,
toys and other Christmas cheer gifts for millions of war-suffering
youngsters throughout the world. The famed writer-producer broke
a self-imposed 20 year radio silence to appear personally on his
broadcast to launch the "Santa Claus for all God's Children" cam
paign. Although writing and producing network shows for more
than a score of years, he never before spoke into a broadcast
microphone. On each of the programs for the next several weeks
he plans to present brief highlights of the overseas activities of
the Foster Parents' Plan for War Children, and capsule outlines
of the work the group is doing to rehabilitate and provide normal
childhoods for children In war-torn countries. Tonight's "I Love
a Mystery" broadcast will incorporate both Friday's and Monday's
episodes into a full half-hour, (10:30-11 p. m.) .
