Russian Tanks Excel U. S. Type, Gen. Collins Says WASHINGTON. (Pi Gen. J. Lawton Collins, Army chief of staff, says that "frankly our tanks aren't as good as the Russian tanks." He said that Russia now has the best but that he had just seen in Detroit a light tank as goad . as any In the world and "all we need is a little money to buy them." The famed writer-producer broke a self-imposed 20 year radio silence to appear personally on his broadcast to launch the "Santa Claus for all God's Children" cam paign. Although writing and producing network shows for more than a score of years, he never before spoke into a broadcast microphone. On each of the programs for the next several weeks he plans to present brief highlights of the overseas activities of the Foster Parents' Plan for War Children, and capsule outlines of the work the group is doing to rehabilitate and provide normal childhoods for children In war-torn countries.
