Sylvia Daniels and Mrs. Barbara Loisingr-r entertained at pink and blue shower at the recreational hall of the Sutherlin homes on West Central avenue Thursday evening in compliment to Mrs. Carol Real. The table was centered with miniatuie mums wilh pink and blue strea mers running from each cornrr and the many gifts were placed upon it. Gifts were presented to Mrs. Real from the hostesses. Mrs. Hattie Groleau, Mrs. Ruth Cro leau, Mrs. Gladys Miller, Mis. Pat Johnson, Mrs. Amy Oliver, Mrs. Irene Pepoit, Miss Kdin Ruth Real, Mrs. Dolores Slack, Mrs. Doris Krewson. Mrs. Emma Real and Connie Dado. Those sending gifts but unab'e to attend were: Mrs. Lola Reh wait, Mrs. Olive Probst, Mrs. Betty Smith, Mrs. Mary Camp bell. The social hour was spent In playing games, with Mrs. Slack winning' first prize and Connie Dado second. Late refreshments ere served. MRS. FRED HARGIS ENTERTAINS TWELVE AND WON CLUB MEMBERS Twelve and Won club members were entertained by Mrs. Kred Hargis wilh luncheon Turjday followed by a social alternoon. Marigolds formed the center piece for the group. High prize was won by Miss Bernarrilne Prlncen wilh Mrs. Thella Webber, second and Mrs. Gertrude Richardson the guest prize. Mrs. K. Mrs. Hope Henry and Mrs. Mary Wlnneford as hostes I ses. Polluck luncheon was enjoy- ea at noon wnn jhr. uricr Crouch giving the Invocation. Mrs. Jesse Davis was honored with a birthday sing. A short business meeting was held with Mrs. Crouch presiding. The remainder of the afternoon was spent piecing quilt blocks to be used in making quills for welfare work. The hall was de corated wilh marigolds, autumn dulls and pumpkins, carrying out a Halloween motif. Guests present were Mrs. Mil dred Madilox and Mrs. E. Mar guerite Munson. BETHANY CIRCLE MEETS WEDNESDAY AT BERGERSON HOME Members and guests of Beth any circle were entertained at the home of Mrs. M. T. Berger son, Oct.. IS. Pastor Willis Erich- son opened the meeting with de votions from the book of Hosea. The group was reminded of the World Community day, guild ba zaar and bake sale to he held in November. Mrs. J. Sorseth was elected to serve on the nomina tion committee for election of of ficers for the coming year. A social hour followed. The next quarterly meeting of the guild will be November 8 at R p.m. Bethany circle will meet December 20 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wendell Clark. 917 Hamilton street. GROUP ENJOYS DINNER PARTY AT DAVIS HOME An Informal dinner party was given by Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Davis at Camas Valley. Williams SUTHERLIN FOLK DANCING CLUB IS ACTIVE GROUP Members of the Sutherlin Folk Dancing-Club, held their regular dance Saturday evening, October 15th, at the grange hall. Dancing began at nine o'clock with thirty seven members pre sent. Guests Included Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Conn of Sutherlin, Mrs. Virginia Boyd and John Macabee. of Salem; Mr. and Mrs. Erick Trozelle and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spencer, of Rivers- dale. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer have In structed the group in the follow ing dances: Swedish spin net waltz, Swedish schottische, Okla homa mixer, Ping Pong schot tische, Canadian barn dance. St. Bernard waltz. HELPING HAND CLUB MEETS AT N I DAY HOME HELPING Hand club members of Edenbower met with Mrs. George Niday last week for a short business meeting and spent the afternoon at sewing and visit ing. At tea time refreshments were enjoyed by Mrs. McCall, Mrs. Roark, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Price. Mrs. Jamisen, Mrs. Jarris and daughter, Judy, Mrs. Caley and daughter, Sylvia, Mrs. Niday and daughter, Pat. The next meeting will be Oct. 29 with Mrs. George Schore on Eden I.ane. Politick luncheon Is planned with ladies bringing their punch work and sewing. EXTENSION UNIT PROGRAM DISCUSSED AT SULOFF RESIDENCE A group of twelve women met at the home of Mrs. Martin Sul off at Elkton Thursday to dis cuss the Home Extension pro gram for the year. The first unit meeting will be Oct. 27 at th side room of the Church of Chlrst. Anyone Interested is welcome. The meeting will start at 10 and the suhtect Is textile painting. Mrs. William Binder Is project leader for that day. During the year there will be several interesting, as well as worth while projects, presented. NORTHSIOE SUNSHINE CLUB HOLDS PLEASANT AFTERNOON MEETING Mrs. Ora Worthington was hostess to the Northside Sunshine club at her home last week. A short business meeting was con ducted by Miss Elizabeth Paul in the, absence of officers. Polly anna gifts were distributed among the members and house hold hints exchanged. Mrs. Lucia Ingles and Mrs. Senna Hiney received gifts at game play. The hostess was as sisted by Mrs. Clara Frew and Miss Elizabeth Paul. Refreshments were served to Mrs. E. Princen. SMITH Word has been received of the death of William "Gui" Grubbe Monday. Mr. Grubbe was a bro ther of the late Edwin Grubbe. Mr. and Mrs. William Binder and family went on a trip last week. They left Thursday and drove to Portland via the coast route, visiting the sea lion caves and the aquarium. Friday they took in the Pacific International Livestock show. Saturday they motored up the Columbia river highway to Bonneville, where they watched a ship go through the locks. Sunday they stopped in Salem and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hancock. Mrs. Arthur Clemo was called to Albany by the death of her mntner-ln-law Mrs. Clemo, Sr. Mrs. Kenneth Madison taught the fifth graders Wednesday, so Airs. Hucken could attend Mrs. Clemo'i funeral at Albany. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Grubbe and daughters have returned irom a hunting trip to Timber, Ore. They brought back a three point and a four-point buck. Harry Smith is visiting his mother Sarah Jane Smith. Mrs. Reed Moore it reported feeling miserable at home. She was in an accident last week and was badly shaken up. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Swift and family have moved to Reeds port where Mr. Swift Is employed at the Reedsport market. Mr. and Mrs. George Costa who have been living at Sawyer Rapids have gone to Washington for the winter. Mrs. Jim Haines has returned from a visit with her sister, Mrs. Fay Madison at Tillamook.
