The why and how of - headlines and history will be adapted
into a new type day-time radio feature when Mutual-Don Lee
presents the famous story-teller, Marvin Miller, In his series of
dramatically narrated "Behind the Story" programs starting Mon
day, September 5 (4:30.4:45 p.m.). Mr. Miller is one of radio's
foremost story-tellers and personalities. He Is also . a character
actor capable of bringing to life the many types of personalities
who have made headlines, who have made history. He will in
corporate these abilities in his new programs, when he nar
rates and interpolates the behind-the-sceDes facts that will make
up each of his Monday through Friday -broadcasts. Typical of the
kinds of stories he plans to tell are such as these: How could an
airplane hover over a great city, fifty years before airplanes
were invented. Why did the wife of an English nobleman become
the captain of a pirate vessel? What man bought the world for a
million dollars cash, and actually took title? Under what circum
stances was the world's biggest diamond found?
On KRNR tonight: "Box Thirteen" at I . . . "Jovln Jam
boras" at 1:30 . . . "Ruth and Judy" at t:30 ... and 'John
Steels, Adventurer," at 10. Don Lee's "Cues In Musle" Is
scheduled as usual In the 11 to 11:30 p.m. . time-period
for late dialers.
In radio you know that summer's ended when the network
program orders come rolling in for shows which have enjoyed the
luxury of a summer hiatus. September will bring it such per
sonalities as 'Tom Mix," "Captain Midnight," "The Shadow" and
another Sunday favorite, "True Detective Mysteries," back to the
KRNR 'air-waves.
