Instead, a special meeting will be held the evening of July l at the nome. or Mrs. Ruth Plumer, at which time re ports of the convention will be made. Enjoying Trip Dr. and Mrs. D. B. Bubar and Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Bubar of Roseburg are enjoy ing their summer vacation trip, according to word received here by relatives and friends. They are now in Canada, en route to Maine, where they will spend some time visiting their former home-town of Presque Isle. They plan to spend the entire summer vacationing. Kidder, and family, on North Stephens street. Sunday, Mr. snd Mrs. Kidder and children, Robin and Phyllis, took Mrs. Wahoviak, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Kidder, of Roseburg, and Mrs. Grace Hunt, who is visiting here from Oak land, Calif., on a trip to the Coast. They went via the Drain Reedsport highway and returned by way of Myrtle Point. Leaving on Trip Mrs. W. H. Scofield, Roseburg school teach er, who received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Oregon at the commencement exercises Sunday, plans to leave Monday for Eugene to join a friend, Mrs. Maude Johnson, of that city, and will make an auto mobile vacation trip to Yellow stone National Park. Mrs. Sco field will join her husband in Missouri July 15th. Together they will make -a trip to New York City and, on July 25th, will attend the National Star Route Carriers convention in Harris burg, Pa. They plan to return to their home In Rosebure in August and en route west, will stop in uutte, Montana, to visit Mr. Scofield's brother, Robert Scofield, and family. Hinkley who died April 19, passed away June 21 at a hospital in Salem, at the age of 77 years. She had been a resident of this county for about 40 years, com ing here from Rockford, 111., with her husband. She leaves no rela tives in Oregon. Ricketts, director of the Roseburg High School band, from N. Thomas Stoddard, chairman of the Portland Rose Festival As sociation Program Committee, and Chester R. Duncan, co-chairman. The band, said Ricketts, has dis banded for the summer months. but will reconvene when school starts in the fall. An assistant instructor has been added to work with the Junior band, he said. The two letters were similar In contest, Stoddard wrote as fol lows: "On behalf of mvself Dersonallv and the board of directors of the Portland Rose Festival Associa tion, I wish to express our great appreciation to you and your High School Band and the City of Roseburg for making it pos sible for you to participate in our recent i43 Rose f estival. Governor Fuller Warren, 43, said so himself here as he played me genial nost to newsmen with whom he had played hide-and-seek earlier upon his arrival by private plane. He will add one more Callforn ian to his state's population, tak ing back with him pretty Barbara Manning, 24, after their marriage Sunday afternoon. She will be his third bride.
