New Eagle Lodge
At Sutherlin Is
Being Organized
A call for a meeting of proi
pective charter member of a
new aerie of the Fraternal Order
of Eagles, being organized in
Sutherlin, has been issued by H.
C. Scoffield, organizer. The meet
ing will be held Wednesday, May
25, at the Boy Scout hall.
Anyone interested in the
Eagles is invited to attend the
meeting.
The-organizer will explain the
alms and benefits of the Fra
ternal Order of Eagles, and dis
cuss the requirements for grant
ing a charter for a new aerie
such as is proposed here.
Up to date, Scoffield said, more
than 100 men in this city have
evinced a desire to become char-
tcr members of the new organ
ization. He expects that this
number will be augmented at the
first meeting of prospective mem
bers.
"The Eagles now have more
than 1,500 aeries, with a mem
bershlp of over one million men,
Scoffield said. "Besides the direct
benefits we pay our members, we
have aided thousands of other
persons through the various civic
charitable activities carried on by
the various aeries, and we were
directly responsible for old age
pension and social security laws,
and helped enact many work
men's compensation laws, aeries
now own more than $30,000,000
worth of government bonds.
