C. Scoffield, organizer. The meet ing will be held Wednesday, May 25, at the Boy Scout hall. Anyone interested in the Eagles is invited to attend the meeting. The-organizer will explain the alms and benefits of the Fra ternal Order of Eagles, and dis cuss the requirements for grant ing a charter for a new aerie such as is proposed here. Up to date, Scoffield said, more than 100 men in this city have evinced a desire to become char- tcr members of the new organ ization. He expects that this number will be augmented at the first meeting of prospective mem bers. "The Eagles now have more than 1,500 aeries, with a mem bershlp of over one million men, Scoffield said. "Besides the direct benefits we pay our members, we have aided thousands of other persons through the various civic charitable activities carried on by the various aeries, and we were directly responsible for old age pension and social security laws, and helped enact many work men's compensation laws, aeries now own more than $30,000,000 worth of government bonds. Mother Of R. R. Brand, School Principal, Dies Mrs. M. D. Brand, mother of R. R. Brand, principal of Rose burg Junior High School, died ; In Portland Sunday. Mr. Brand was in Portland with her at the time of her death. She was a member of the First Pi esbvterlan Church of Portland and an active member of the P.E.O. Sister hood. Besides her son, she is sur vived by two grandchildren, Don ald and Barbara Brand, of Rose burg. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning In Portland.
