PORTLAND Plans for "the greatest united evangelistic cam paign ever undertaken by the Protestant churches in Oregon," were adopted by the Board of Di rectors of the Oregon Council of Churches meeting here this week. According to Dr. Walter Giers bach of Forest Grove, president of the Council, efforts will be made to carry the Christian message to virtually every town in Oregon over a 15-months period beginning next October. In the effort Ore gon will be cooperating with churches throughout America in the Nationwide Christian Cru sade, which begins October 2, 1949. " Through the Oregon Council's Committee on Evangelism, head ed by Wallace Lee of Portland, an invitation will be extended to every Protestant denomination working in Oregon to join in the united crusade. Communities will cooDerate in four types of evan gelistic effort designed to reach every home In the community; (1). A united church attendance emphasis to urge every individ ual to attend "the church of his choice." 12). A Christian teaching mission to locate all persons not connected with any church and to win them through a program of fellowship evangelism. (3). A Dreach ne mission in which out standing state and national Chris tian leaders will present Jesus Christ as the answer to the deep est needs of the individual and of the nations. (4). A program of visitation evangelism in wnicn trained teams from the churches will visit in the hoiries to present the claims of Christ and the Church. "Oregon has had the largest Dooulation increase of any state," declared Dr. Giersbach, "yet the percentage of the people who are connected with any church, Pro testant, Catholic and Jewish, is less than twenty-five per cent. It will be the aim of the churches in 1 this united evangelistic effort to j do something about It." ' A. F. Walter Kresia, M. D. Physician and Surgeon U. S.
