Klansmen Meet Resentment In Visit to Church CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Jan. 25. l?P) A group of hooded men who represented themselves as Ku Klux Klansmen paid a com plimentary call at the Philadel phia Baptist Church Sunday eve ning. The Rev. Clarence Starling said the masked and robed band entered the white church just as he started to read the an nouncements. "I looked ud and saw them coming down either side of the church," the minister said. "I Just froze there, I was so scared." He said a spokesman lor the group handed him a letter and asked him to read It. The letter said in part: "We Clansmen visit you and your church this Sabbath eve ning because we appreciate the splendid work your church has aone in tne community. . . . "We as Clansmen are obligated to support the Protestant Church es. .. . We have no hate for any race, creed or color and we make no fight on anything that is good and right. He did not give any rea son. Body in Burned Auto Beyond Recognition OREGON CITY, Ore., Jan. 25 UP) A Portlander was believed the victim of a fire that destroyed a car near Gladstone yesterday. Deputy Sheriff Gilbert Rodgers said the body in the car was burned beyond recognition. The heat melted the glass and por tions of the metal car body. The car, a 1937 LaSalle sedan, was registered to Roy A. Johnson, Portland. Relatives were con vinced that the victim was John son, but the Clackamas County coroner withheld positive identi fication.
