Come in and see it. Reinstatement, Back Pay Ordered For Film Writer LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21. (TP) Lester Cole, film writer suspend ed for refusing to testify before the un-Ameriean Activities Com mittee, was ordered reinstated yesterday in his $1350-a-week Job. U. S. District Judge Leon R. Yankwich also ordered Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio to pay Cole some S75.000 in back salary, and retained jurisdiction in the case to make certain his order is car ried out. Cole was one of 10 Hollywood figures who refused to tell the committee headed by Rep. J. Par nell Thomas whether they were or had been Communists. Ail 10 were suspended by movie studios attorneys for the 10 called it a blacklisting until such time as they were cleared of charges. Cole contended that the so called "morals clause" in his con tract did not warrant his suspen sion, and a jury decided Saturday that his action did not "bring him self into public hatred, contempts, scorn or ridicule" or "tend to Of E) LD E) A Practical Gift... Collision of Buses In Utah Takes 13 Lives . TOOELE, Utah, Dec. Investigations into the Burling ton TraiUvays bus crash Saturday that claimed 13 lives continued today. Thirty-four military personnel, enroute home for Christmas, were aboard the eastbound bus which collided with a westbound bus on fog-shrouded U. S. High way 40, about 63 miles west of Salt Lake City. Both vehicles were swept by flames and sur vivors escaped through smashed windows. Blind Dog Warns Blind Mistress of House Fire GLOUCESTER, N. J., Dec. 20 The whining of a blind dog yesterday warned the ant mars blind mistress that her house was on fire. Mrs. Anna McGHnchey, 60, was awakened by the whining of her pet, "Yipple," and summoned help after making her way to a bedroom window. VVi11iam Gordon Sorrells, 19, son of the late John H. Sorrells, executive editor of the Scripps Howard newspapers, was found shot in the stomach early yester day on a dormitory porch at Bard College near here. Sorrells was a freshman at the school. He was reported in criti cal condition at Northern Dutch ess County Health Center today. Circumstances of the shooting were not immediately determined.
