R. Brand. The original goal of $4000 was passed Tuesday, and the super goal achieved Thursday. Indica tions are it will exceed last year's figure, he said. Considerable competition Is be ing shown between the grades and homerooms, as well as among top individual salesmen, said Brand. Figures are not yet available on top individ ual salesmen. The magazine campaign, con ducted annually by the Junior High, will be concluded next Tues day, Nov. 2. The school will share in commission protils. Last year approximately $2000 was realized, but of this amount some went for expenses and some also for individual prizes to top contest ants. The proceeds are used for pur chasing school equipment and to augment the athletic fund. Ath letics never carry themselves fi nancially, so must be supported by other funds. The School Administration con siders the general public would rather have soliciting for maga zines done by the students than by professional canvassers, thus keeping the commissions in the city. The campaign is conducted by the Curtis Publishing Co., but includes 57 different magazines for which orders may be taken. Write-in Move For Prohibitionists Launched in Oregon Write in campaign for Dr. Claude A. Watson, Prohibition Party candidate for president, and Dale H. Learn, the party's nom inee for vice president, has been launched by the Christian Inde pendent Movement, with head quarters at Portland. Due to a technicality in the elec tion law, the party was unable to get the names of Its nominees on the November ballot. So voters are requested to write in the names of Dr. Watson and Learn, said If. S. Lower, chairman of the Christian Independent Move ment. Dr. Watson was the first of the presidential candidates to vis it Oregon this year. He delivered a campaign address to an aud ience at the First Christian Church in Roseburg In February, and was accompanied here by his wife. Although Dr. Watson and Learn were nominated at an assembly of the Prohibition Party in Port land last May. and It was expected that their names would be on the ballot, the meeting did not com ply with current election laws which require filing o' petitions signed by 16,000 or more voters. "We are sorry for this difficul ty that arise n." said Lower in a letter to interested persons here. "Howevisr, we believe the fight to secure Christian officers for positions of high civic respon sibility has Just begun. Unbalanced 'Emotes May Be Cause of Toothaches PITTSBURGH, Oct. 28. UP) A Temple University psychiatrist says that old bugbear the tooth ache may be caused by a lack of emotional balance. Dr. John W. Lyns Jr., told a meeting of the Western Pennsyl vania Dentists Society that while laboratory proof still Is lacking, "research has Indicated that bleed ing gums and tooth decay is directly traceable to emotional disturbances." Dr. Lyons also suggested that the toothache victims visit to the dentist may be harder emo tionally on the practitioner than on the oatient. A dentist. Dr. Lyons said, often has a "feeling of self reproach because of the necessity of hurt ing a patient." Leftover cooked cereal may be used in pancakes, In meat loaves or patties, or in puddings. Dr. E. J. Walnscott was out of town, but an assistant stated the office has been Informed of the cases believed to be polio. How ever, she staled, the office does not have a doctor's report fully substantiating the fact. Both children, not In the same family, have been removed to a Eugene hospital for medical treat ment. Their ailments are report ed to be very mild. The health office reported that many polio cases in very milt state go un reported. Both cases were isolated, and since neither child was in school. closing of the school was con sidered unnecessary.
