Corsages were presented to the women guests of honor and boutonnieres were presented to the men. Fred Goff, Who assisted In the . organization of the grange, and Mrs. Golf, who installed the first officers for Riversdale, were in attendance and presented a lovely myrtlewood novelty to the grange. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Daniels and their committee. Mr. and Mrs. Hilmar Hanson were voted into the grange as new members. Tuller. Rur- al Housing Specialist, from Ore gon State College, will help all officers of the Douglas County Home Extension Units to start the Drogram for the year. Wed., Sept. 1, when officers will meet at the Knights of Pythias Hall, upstairs, at 114 Norm Hose St. in Roseburg. Registration will start at 10:15 A. M. Mrs. Tuller will discuss "Extension Unit Problems." Mrs. Bertha Parrott and Mrs. Fred Williams, Jr. will report on State Council held last June. The afternoon session will start at 1:00 p. m. The Olalla-Tenmile unit will give a play "Meet With the Harmony Home Extension Unit," followed by a summary of parliamentary procedure, by Mrs. Tuller. Election and installation of County Committee members will take place, also officers will meet the new Douglas County Home Extension agent, Mrs. Corinne McTaggart, who will be in charge of the meeting. Sessions will be held for chairmen, vice-chairmen, secretary-treasurers, and 4 H chairmen. They will be in charge of Mrs. Tuller, Mrs. Mc Taggart and Frank von Borstel. County Extension agent of 4-H Club work. New officers hand books and unit year-books will be distributed. Mrs. Paul Newman, will pre side, Mrs. Rychard. will have charge of registration and Mrs. Geo. Munson and Mrs. McCord will be in charge of the music. All officers are urged to attend. MRS. T. B. VIRDEN ENTERTAINS AT LOVELY DINNER FOR VISITORS Mrs. T. B. Virden was hostess at a dinner on Sunday in honor of her cousin, George D. Sham brook, of San Jose, California, who with his wife, is spending his vacation at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J, L. Shambrook., in Canyonville. Ambrose of Koseburg Friday evening, August 20, at six-thirty o'clock In the garden, at the bride's home. Rev. Ken neth W. Knox, pastor of the irst Christian Church or Kose burg performed the impressive ceremony In the presence of 50 relatives and friends of the couple. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Albert Stlngley and Mrs. Joyce Shutt plaved fln accordian duet, "I Love You Truly." after which they plaved the Bridal Chorus from Lonengrin ior xne Dnuai party to take its place. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a pale pink marquisette formal gown over satin, one carrira a bouauet of carnations. Miss Elza Smith was maid of honor for her sister and wore a pale blue for mal gown and carried a bouquet of gladioli and carnations. Clyde Ambrose acted as best man lor his brother. Both the mothers wore Iloral print gowns with gardenia corsages. A reception ioi lowed at wnicn time the beautifully decorated wedding cake, made by the bride's mother, was cut by the bridal couple. Mrs. Smith served the ice cream. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. G. E. Bales, grandmother of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Rav Ambrose andd aughter. Bev. erly (brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom), and Mr. ana Mm. Neff. all of Hood River; John N. Wright, of Loveland, Colo., grandfather of the bride; Mrs. Milton Walter, grandmother of the bride; Robert and Kenneth Walter, uncles of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wright, uncle and aunt of the bride, all of the Callahan Trail settlement. Both the bride and bridegroom art ended the Roseburg High School. The bridegroom served with the U. S. Army In the Euro pean theater of operations during world War II and is now em ployed at the Coon Creek saw mill. BUSY STEPPERS CLUB AND TENMILE COMMUNITY CLUB HOLD MEETING The Busy Steppers Club of Olalla met Wednesday with the Tenmlle Community Club for a Potluck Picnic. The R a t h k e y Grove with its large maple trees proved a most pleasant setting for the enjoyable affair. The adults were seated at one long tab e. which was covered with white tablecloth and had bou quets of zinnia and asters to add to its attractiveness, me cnuoren were seated at a smaller table, which was also covered with white tablecloth and had as centerpiece a bouquet of mixed flowers. Following the delicious lunch eon the adults enjoyed visiting and group singing led by "Grandma Rathkey while the children waded In the creek and Dlaved games. Later in the after' noon. Bloom en tertained at a very lovely dinner party Tuesday evening honoring the parents of the former, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Bloom, on their thirty-eighth wedding anniver sary. LOCAL NEWS Visiting at Woods Home Mrs. Estelle Woods and Judy Wiggins of Stayton, Ore., have arrived in Roseburg for a week's visit with the for.ner's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Woods, and their son, Donald, Back From Trip Miss Gladys H. Strong and Mrs. J. A. Cara way have returned to Roseburg, following a vacation trip. Miss Strong first attended the music festival at Hood River, where she was joined by Miss Katherine Vogleson, of Evanston, 111., who accompanied her back to Rose burg for a visit and the two were then accompanied to San Fran cisco by Mrs. caraway tor a stay. Miss Vogleson left California to day for her home In Illinois. Miss Strong, Roseburg piano Instruc tor, and Miss Vogleson became friends, while both were students at the New England Conserva tory of Music at Boston.
