Additional guests were Ardytli And rui, Mary McKinney, Ann Carter and Irene Trapalls, all contestants for Miss Roseburg and Miss Georgene Shanklin, who entertained with musical selec tions. While expressing her enjoy ment In attending and participat ing In the pageant. Miss Sheffel said her greatest pleasure was in the way the Roseburg Lions Club and others of the city treated her and in outfitting her with cloth ing and gifts for the trip. Many of the towns merely gave their contestants a bus ticket and sent them on their way, said Miss Sheffel. She said it was very gratifying to real! 7 how much had been done for her and to know that her clothing was on a par with, for example, that of Miss Portland. Tired By Long Wait On the whole, she said, the Roseburg program stood out in her mind as on a par with the Seaside contest, as the local pro gram was not so long and drawn out. She said that her number was 21, that the contests Friday and Saturday night continued until midnight, and that by the time she appeared for her talent number and appearances she was nearly exhausted Just from wait ing. She outlined in general the contest procedure, and said her treat est thrill was riding in the unday morning parade. She said hers was the best looking limousine of all, and that she felt very proud that she was the Roseburg representative. Concluding her talk, inter spersed with witty remarks which pleased the club member ship, she sang by request. "Now Is the Hour," her talent number In both the Miss Roseburg and Miss Oregon pageants.
