Wharton entertained at a charm ing reception at their beautiful home on Chadwick street Thurs day evening. Guests were invited to call between the hours of eight and ten o'clock. Mr. Miller is the only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Miller of Rose burg. M. M. Miller was busi ness manager of the News-Review for many years. Slator Miller attended the local schools and was graduated from West Point. The family has been taking a four-months vacation trip. They visited in California upon their arrival on the mainland, after which they went to Chicago, De troit, New York City, the New England states. Boston and Wash ington, D. C They returned west via the northern route, stopping at Butte, Montana, where the late M. M. Miller was first engaged in newspaper worn, wnne here, they have been staying at Nlka Lodge, summer home of Thomas Wharton, on the North Umpqua River. They plan to leave Monday for Crater Lake, after which they will go to the Oregon Caves and down the coast to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Mr. Miller ex pects to return to Honolulu the first of August, while his family will remain for a longer visit with relatives and friends In Cali fornia. Mr. and Mrs. Wharton were assisted by their daughter, Mrs. Florence Wicklund. who la also visiting here from Honolulu: Mrs. Velle Broadwav. Mrs. George Wharton. Mrs. W. F. Chanman, Mrs. J. R. JULY Wedding Takes Miss Frances Roberts, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roberts of Camas Valley, was married to William .'tall, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hall, Sr., of Salem, Sunday afternoon, June 6, at the First Methodist Church Carrier room. Rev. Brooks Moore per formed the Impressive ceremony at five o'clock. The bride wore a floor length dress of white lace, designed with short sleeves, a high neckline, but tons to the waistline in front, and a full skirt. The fingertip veil was held in place with a seed pearl coronet. For her flowers the bride carried a bouquet of pink roses. Mrs. Eugene Walters as matron of honor wore a pastel blue taf feta dress with a net bversklrt, and her flowers were yellow roses.- M ft. AND MRS. Roach performed the nuptials in the presence of 150 relatives and friends. Pink and white gladioli In three huge floor baskets, flanked by candelabra holding white cathe dral candles, decorated th. altar. White candles in ivy decorated holders were placed In the church windows. The aisles were marked with satin ribbons and bows. Decorations were In 'harge of Mrs. A. F. Grow played softly on the pipe organ and accompanied Mrs. Murray Hoff of Minneapolis, Minn., sister of the bridegroom, who sang, "Through the Years,'1 and "Becau:?." Mrs. Hoff wore a light rose-colored formal gown and a corsage of sweetneas. Mrs. William Adair and Miss Phyllis Hinsdale were bridesmaids and wore gowns of white maraulnette embroidered with appliques of light rose and pale blue. They carried bouquets of sweetness with matching floral headdresses. Karen Weaver of Idleyld, cousin of the bride, was flower girl and wore a floor length gown of yel low organdy ruffled to the floor In back. She carried a tiny basket filled with rosepetals. Gary Run dell of Roseburg. also a cousin of the bride, was ring bearer. Murray Hoff of Minneapolis, Minn, brother-in-law of the bride groom, was best man. Ushers were William Adair, Rendalt Young, Robert Baum and Webster Brlggs. of Mvrtle Creek, a cousin of the bride. The bride mother wore a gown of aqua with a pink net and flower hat, 'white loves and a corsage of roses, he bridegroom's mother wore a turquoise-colored gown with white accessories and a corsage of roses.
