National Education Week pro vides parents the opportunity to examine and evaluate the schools and understand the facilities and service provided for their chil dren. RICE VALLEY ELKHEAD UNIT HAS MEETING The Klec Valley-Elkhead Unit of Home Pxtension met Friday with Mrs. Ervln Kice, chairman, in charge. A potluck luncheon was held at noon, followed by a demonstration on "Color in Styles" and "Choosing the style and color to lit one's personali ty." A committee from the fire de partment. Jack Culver and Geo. Cornish met with the ladies and said that they were vtiliing to cooperate fixing a Christmas tree down town. The committee on fixing the boxes for Christmas cheer stated that they would like to have each memlicr to bring some article for a child and wearing apparel at the next meeti lg which will he on Novemticr 17th in the base ment of the church, a potluck din ner at seven-thirty. The devotions were led by Mrs. Virgil Iwdcn, assisted by Mrs. James Williams, who pave a brief sketch of the life and religous experience of Charles E. Wilson, president of the General Electric Company. The busines session was con ducted bv tlie president, Mrs. Zora Guthrie. Plans were dis cu:s.scr! for a community benelit dinner to be given the latter part of the month. The proceeds will be used for kitchen equipment for the new church building. A cash offering was authorized to be sent to the district supply of fice covering the quarter's ask ing. Attention was called to the De cember meeting, which it Is an ticipated will be held D;cmbcr 3 in the new church building. This is the annual Christmas meeting, which convenes at 10:30 a.m. with a potluck luncheon. A Christmas box will be packed for the Childrens Farm Home at Corvallis. A special request from the Home for this year's gifts is that toys and games are not desired. The merchants of Al bany and Corvallis have already contributed an abundance of games and toys. Books, clothing and toilet articles suitable for boys and girls between tlie aes of five and seventt'en will lie much appreciated.
