rigated farm lands in the fertile
Tule Lake division of the Kla
math irrigation project on the
' California-Oregon border to set
tlement by 44 families.
The land, lirsl on the proposed
Modoc unit, is an area which has
been without a crop failure for
25 years. It is the eighth major
land opi ning, and the second on
the Klamath project since the end
of the war, in the Reclamation
Bureau's program to provide
farm settlement opportunities for
war veterans.
The 44 farms, ranging from 70
to 110 acres, lie within the for
mer boundaries of Tule lake.

farms currently are being leased
to farmers in the aiea.
The first chance for the home
steads will go to World War II
veterans who apply bclorc Janu
ary 20. Winners will be deter

their equivalent from surplus
structures at former war reloca
tion camps.
