Chandlee, state president of Women's clubs, also members of the Drain Study club and menus. The league room was festive with long tables decorated with bouquets of anemoties daffodils and lighted tapers. During ahe luncheon hour, roll call topics were very interesting ly presented by Mesdames Pink ston, Cockeram, Houser, Kruse. and Rice in current events ani problems of international rela tions. A program followed the lunch eon, In the main auditrium of the church. Group singing of America the Beautiful. Invocation by Mrs. Fred Reeves, Chaplain. Vocal duels by Mrs. Luther Daughterly and Mrs. Kenneth Mulkey accompanied hv Mrs. Her nice Merk, "Just a Weary in for you" and "I'll Take You Homo Again, Kathleen." A quaint original reading "The Bantam Rooster" by Mis Iluluhus. Mrs. Dnre Kingcry, president Introduced Mrs. Chandlee, guest speaker. Her theme w-.-is "Ten Thousand Women Lift Tbeli Eyes to the Sun." Mrs. Chandlee attended the Nations Assembl last autumn, where she hoard delegates from thirty cue foreign nations sw;ik, and pledge to do all in their power to uidte the people ol their lands for bettel understanding, human justice and lasting peace. Mrs. Chandlee praised Mrs. 1. a Fall Dickelnson, National president of Women's ciubs and reviewed much of her visit to Russia. Mrs. Chandlee is a forceful and charming speaker, expressing it joelieally. To hear her lifted our souls from the com mon sod to a purer air, and a broader view. She is unsei'ish giving full time to organizations ol Women's clubs, so great is her Iteliof in the power and inlluence of organized women lor good. Mrs. Maude Cowlii expressed thanks and appreciation for the Drain Club for the oportunity to hear Mrs. Chandlee. Announcement of the next reg ular meeting of the club at the beautiful home of Mrs. Jennie Laswell was made. Mrs. McDonald. unit Mrs. Raphael Wise, assisted by the en tertainment committee. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER PARTY CIVEN SUTHERLIN-Mrs. Nora Dice nee Norma Thornton, was hon ored at a charming pink and blue shower party given by Mrs. Florence I.angenberg and Mrs. Betty Thornton at the Carl Thornton home about fifteen miles east of Sutherlin Thursday afternoon. Daffodils were ar anged in colorlul bouquets about the rooms. Visiting was enjoyed during the afternoon and many lovely gifts were opened and viewed by the guests afler which dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses.
