Society and Clubs By LOTUS KNICHT PORTER INTER SE STUDY CLUB HAS CHARMING MEETING TUESDAY AFTERNOON One of the most charming meetings of the Inter-Se Study Club of the year was enjoyed at a one o'clock Chow Mien lunch eon Tuesday at the home of Mrs. M. R. Wire on South Chadwick street with her daughter, Mil. George Churchill, graciously act ing as hostess. The afternoon's study topic on Oriental music was in charge of Mrs. Paul Elliott. Decorations for the luncheon carried out the Chinese motif in keeping with the interesting program. Floating Lotus flowers, chrysanthemums and tall tapers were arranged for the occasion. Following the luncheon, Chinese candles from China town in San i Francisco were served. Mrs. W. Howard Pattlson, Mrs. Paul Geddes and Mrs. Churchill sang, "Japanese Sunset" and "Chinese Lullaby." Mrs. Geddes played a piano solo, "Lotus Land" and Mrs. Gordon Stewart played "Oriental" by Cui. Those enjoying the occasion were Mrs. M. C. Bowker and Mrs. M. R. Wire, guests; Mrs. Bruce Mellis, Mis. C. M. Stark, Mrs. Gordon Stewart, Mrs. Paul Ged des. Mrs. E. E. Lindell, Mrs. Paul Elliott, Mrs. V. V. Harpham, Mrs. Theo Bond, Mrs. Alva Laws, Mrs. John Ulrich, Mrs. Charles Doern er. Those present were sponsor, Mrs. J. R. Wharton, and the following mem bers and pledges: Etna Davis, Dorothy Saunders, Jessie Wag goner, Mary Peterson, Annabelle Berg. Jacqueline Wells, Evalu Russell, Wilma Glovanini, Bonita Wikolf, Nadean Stoop, Gladys Hart, Faye Jones, Dorothy Wins ton, Betty Jane Davis, Mari Joan Killip, Irene Tozier, Lillian Du Fresne, Myra Crooch, Jane Sehloenleber, and the hostess, Athalle Marcell. Plans tor service work were discussed and a contribution col lected for the March of Dimes Fund. President Betty Jane Davis also selected delegates to attend a Beta Sigma Phi convention to be held In Eugene during Febru ary. Following the conclusion of the b'isiness meeting, refreshments were served and visiting enioyea. The next meeting of the group will be held at the home ot Mrs. W. E. Crooch, 1127 Harvard, on Wednesday, January 29. GARDEN VALLEY WOMEN'S CLUB MEETING IS ENJOYED ON THURSDAY The Garden Valley Women's Club met Thursday at the club house with Mrs. Ldwin Bootn, president, conducting the busl ness meeting. Members present were: Mrs. c. w. Schmidt, Mrs. O. F. Michael, Mrs. C. L. It was announced a special home demonstration unit meet ing will be held Monday, January 20 at 1:30 o'clock at the club house for all women of Garden Valley, Rlversdale and Eden- bower. NORTHSIDE SUNSHINE CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON MEETING The Northslde Sunshine Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Clara Stelwig with Miss Elizabeth Paul, president, in charge of the business session. Miss Paul presented gifts to the outgoing officers, Mrs. W. O. Pat terson and Mrs. Stelwig. A Christmas cactus In full bloom and tall tapers decorated the table. Mrs. Mary Hall won the prize for the afternoon. Mm. Patterson assisted Mrs. Stelwig in serving delicious re freshment to Mrs. N. K.
