Mr. Ramsdell, Mr. Coninne and Mr. Laws enjoyed hunting. Mr. Ramsdell formerly taught in Roseburg Senior High School and was a member of KRNR radio station staff. He is now teaching in Salem. Mrs. Brown Improving Mrs. Herbert Brown is reported to be Improving in Chicago, where she was recently discharged from the Swedish Covenant Hospital, fol lowing a major operation. Mr. Brown is with her, and as soon as she Is able to travel, they will visit relatives in St. Louis, Mo., and then go to Carlsbad, N. M., to make their home. The Browns recently moved from Roseburg. While here, Mr. Brown was em ployed by the News-Review. Larceny of Automobile Charged to Man of 72 Oscar Collier Lee, 72, was bound over to the grand jury Saturday on the charge of lar ceny of an automobile, Justice of the Peace Hartfiel reported. Lee's nephews, Richard Wayne Lee, 20, and Percy Olson Lee, 18, will be granted preliminary hear ings. Conservation Aid Douglas County is not taking full advantage of the assistance available through the agricultural conservation program for im proving its agricultural resources, John H. Ferguson, chairman of the county agricultural conserva tion association, revealed today. Despite the need for increased work to check erosion and deple tion on county farmlands, as dis closed in a countywide survey of conservation needs last spring, indications now' are that all of the funds allocated to the county for conservation practice pay ments to farmers will not be earned this year, Mr. Ferguson reporiea. Failure of many farmers to apply for and use the funds for more conservation work will re sult in transfer of unused funds to other counties, Mr. Ferguson said. The committee believes that this would be most unfortunate, in view of the great need for conservation work in this county. Rent Control Clamped on Marion County, W. Salem PORTLAND, Oct. 1 UP Rent control went into effect in Marion County and West Salem of Polk County today. The Salem region was ordered S laced under price control by the PA after complaints of tenants and a survey of the area.
