P) The Detroit News said today that it is "quite possible" that Joe Gor don of the New York Yankees will be Detroit s second baseman next season. "It is fairly certain," the News said, that the New York Yank ees will dispose of Gordon after this season and the Detroit club has already informed the New York club that it would like to buy Gordon." Gordon, 31, is a native of Los Angeles, Calif. He joined the Yankees in 1938. He attended the University of Oregon.
