HAS MEETING THURSDAY SUTHERLIN The Women's Society o Christian Service held its regular meeting and potluck luncheon at the parlors of the Community Methodist Church Thursday at one o'clock. The lon tables were verv pretty with their beautiful bouquets of sum mer flowers. At two o'clock, the meeting was called to order by the presi dent, Mrs. Jennie Comstock. Mr. Horsell had charge o the devo tionals as follows: Song, "fn the Garden," subject from Phllllpians 4th chapter, song, 'Jesus Is All the World to Me." Several com munications and business came before the meeting. It was de cided to give a reception for the new minister and his family after church on August 4, with a basket dinner in the church parlors and all are invited to attend. After all business was disposed of, Mrs. Myrtle Kunkle had charge of the MJsslonery lesson assisted bv Mrs. C. D. Stillwell, Mrs. Lydia Gillette, Mrs. Harold Jones and Mrs. Watson. The day was spent in visiting and painting the picket fence around the house. (A verv "ood job was done.) A lovely chicken dinner was served at noon. The table was very at tractive with its centerpiece of summer flowers. Bertha Blundell. A busi ness meeting was held, after which the members worked re modeling the lodge robes in prep aration for initiation for new members. Refreshments were served at the tea hour. SOUTHERN OREGON KAN8AS CLUB DATES ANNUAL PICNIC The program committee of the Southern Oregon Kansas Club met Thursday to make plans for the annual picnic to be held this year at Kiwanis Park, August 11. The club held its first picnic in 1939 and has met every year since. Crowds were small during the war, hut a large attendance is expected this year. All ex-Kansans and friends are urged to attend the affair and enjoy a visit with their old neigh bors. A basket dinner will be followed by a short program. Games and contests are being planned for the children. TWO-DAY RUMMAGE SALE TO BE HELD The Keystone Club will sponsor a two-day rummage sale from nine to five o'clock Friday and Saturday, August 2-3, in the base ment of the Methodist Church. News of4-H CLUBS More than 50 4-H club members from all parts of Douglas tounty are attending a 4-H camp on Lit tle River from Monday through Thursday of this week. The daily program starts with the flag rais ing ceremony at 6:55 A. M., fol lowed by breakfast at 7:00, camp clean-up from 7:45 to 8:30, class sessions from 8:30 to 11:30. lunch at 12, and a rest period from 1:00 to 1:30, then the daily camp meet ing from 1:30 to 2:00. The time from 2:00 to 3:30 is devoted to baseball, volleyball, horseshoes and other games. At 3:30 all go swimming. Flag lowering at 5:55, dinner at 6:00, a camp fire program from 7:30 to 9:30 rounds out the day's program. The 8:30 to 11:30 class sessions include pos ters, pine cone corsages and but ton gardens taught to the girls bv Mrs. Margaret Kimmel. Leath er tooling and felt lapel pin classes will be taught by Mrs. Kenneth Minnick. The boys will get training in making rope hal ters and rope splicing. Also crops and weed identification instruc tion. One class morning will be de voted to forestry work. George Churchill, ranger at Glide, and Dan Robinson, extension forester from Oregon State College, will have charge of this class. Cal G.
