ROSEBURS NEWS-REVIEW, ROSEBURG, OREGON, FRIDAY, JULY 5, 1946" NINE Roseburg Junior Legion Wallops Oakland Juniors In the feature ball game In Rosebure on the 4th of July pro gram, the Junior Legion nine from Roseburg beat the Juniors from Oakland 10-0 behind the stellar hurling of Richardson and , Benson, who limited Oakland to four scattered hits, two of which were garnered by Johnson, Oak land second baseman. Roseburg hit the Oakland pitcher freely to the tune of 12 solid bingles. including six extra base blows, and, combined with the inabilitv of that chucker to keep the runners from stealing at will .there was never any doubt as to the ultimate outcome of the game. Led by Weaver and Pope, who garnered three hits apiece, two of them being for extra bases, and Marsters, who got two clean singles, and hit solidly oth erwise, the home town team walked off of the field with what shapes up to be a well knit out in at bat and in the field. Duo Whiffs 15 Batters Between the two Roseburg hurlers they struck out 15 of the opposing batsmen and seemed to will. Kelley struck out eight In be throwing the ball past them at pitching a complete game for the visitors. Everyone on the Roseburg team hit t least once with the exception of Evans and Coen. Both teams had a couple of mis cues, but seemed to play well afield when the chips were down. This win puts the Roseburg representative in the lead in the county tourney for the right to represent Douglas county in the district tournament, and the pos sibility of going to the state tour nament. Bus Sporer, Roseburg's ace hurler, struck out 11 and yielded only six hits. Frannie Ailler,' Klamath southpaw, held Rose burg to five hits, but drew little support from his teammates. The Chiefs put through two unearned runs in the fourth, and put the game on ice with their lone earned tally in the sixth. Klamath scored once in the sixth and again in the seventh.
