TL5 in 3CT STORE NO. 1. WINCHESTER DAILY DEVOTIONAL DR. CHARLES A. EDWARDS The word discipline has al most open lost from cur vocabu lary. We wish to do things which we like and shun those which are not so pleasant. Our generation is beginning to show the effects of this lack of self control. Medical science has made it possible to lengthen lile span. But we constantly cut It short by our indulgence and carelessness. A free press has produced a wealth of good reading, but the average mind today, undisciplined, lacks the power to discriminate. The church never had a better trained ministry than today, yet It does not speak with the authority of other generations. The word "discipline" means training which corrects, molds, strengthens, or perfects. Dis cipline is never pleasant at the time, but if the results are so wholesome and constructive we ought to welcome it, disregard ing Its painful aspects. The apostk- Paul said: "I keep my body under, bringing It Into subjection." The Lord disci plines the man He loves and scourges every son He re ceives." Let us endure our dis cipline like good soldiers of the Lord. Amen. Watklns vice-president and Kath ryn Norris secretary. PHONE S22 More Cotton Clothing Planned for Americans Continued From Page 1 lzalinn director, had In mind when he said a few days ago that price increases will le coupk-d with production control to meet demand for scarce products. The price increase for cotton fabrics wiil be In two parts: 1. A general Increase of about three and one-half cents a pound in recognition of higher parity prices for raw cotton and to off set recent wage increasi. Mills which did not hike wages will get only about one cent of this. 2. An additional incentive in crease of five per cent to apply on selected fabrics urgently need ed for clothing and for certain industrial and agricultural pur poses. While the agencies sponsoring the program were unable to esti mate the overall effect of these adjustments on retail prices, they said present ceilings on shirts, for example, might be hiked about five or six cents. They made the point, however, that where only a few shirts are available now at $2.50, the goal of the new program is to provide a generous supply at alKjut a nickel more.
