Russia Admits Getting
Secret Data in Canada

ernment. Because of the "inad
missibility" of those activities.
The statement said the Soviet
ambassador and other members
of the embassy In Canada had
"no connection whatsoever Willi
the matter."
U. S. Military Secrets
Adequately Protected,
President Truman Says
WASHINGTON. Feb. 21. P
President Truman told his news I
conference today that security
measures in this country are ade
quate to protect secret military
information.
He added that these measures
have been adenuate In the past
and he thinks thev still are.
Secretary of State Bvrnes said
on Tuesday that as far as he
knew the United States still re
tained the exclusive know-how re
garding the manufacture of the
atomic bomb, although Britain
and Canada cooperated on the
Domu Droject.
Replying to reporters' ques
tions about disclosures that cer
tain secret Information In Canada
had leaked to Russian sources,
the President said Canadian
Prime Minister King told him
first about the Investigation in
that country. This was before the
November meeting In Washing
ton on atomic enerfv between
the President MacKenzle King,
and British Prime Minister Att
lee, Mr. Truman said.
Mum on Two Queries
The President would not com
ment on reports that Justice De
nartment agenls were investigat
ing activities of foreign agents In
this country.
Another reporter reminded the
President that sometime ago he
said he did not "share the un
holy fear of Russia" which the
reorter said some poonle held
and asked whether he had any
thing to say on that In view of re
cent disclosures.
The President replied no comment.
