BOOTH TO BE GUEST ARTIST ON WOMAN'S CLUB PROGRAM The annual sprinR tra and plav at the Roseburg Woman's Club will be a d.'lit'hiful event at 1:31) o'clock next Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with Miss Helen Casey as chairman. Miss Casey will present the one-act comedy, "The Fern, Flor ists, ' assisted by Mrs. Dallen Jones, Mrs. Armour Murdock, Mrs. O. W. Harrah and Mrs. Frederick J. Porter. Tea will be served by Mrs. J. D. Ostein and Mrs. Foster But ner, co-chairmen, assisted by Mrs. H. U. Scott, Mrs. H. N. Jarobson, Mrs. Herbert Brown and Mrs. A. E. Kent. Mrs. A. J. Geddes, president, will conduct the meeting. Mem bers and their invited quests are asked to enjoy the occasion. Preceding the affair, the execu tive board will meet at a twelve o'clock no-hostess luncheon at the Hotel Rose. EVERGREEN GRANGE HAS MEETING MONDAY Evergreen Grange met at the hall Mondav evening with John Lander, Jr., master, presiding. Three new members were wel comed Into the grange. State deputy, Mr. Wlchlander and his wile, were present as visitors. They are assisting In starting a Juvenile grange. A March of Dimes collection was taken and totaled $18. Individual contributions were collected for the Infantile Pa ralysis Fund to be given in the name of the D. A. R. A reoort was heard on the In teresting program -repared by Mrs. Douglas Waite on the Ump qua Indians for the D. A. R. pro gram of Oregon the Land of Le gend presented each first and third Monday from Corvallls with the different chapters of the state preparing the programs from their locality. JOLLY CIRCLE CLUB HAS MEETING WEDNESDAY Mrs. Freeman Williams was a most gracious hostess last Wed nesday afternoon when she enter tained the members of the Jolly Circle club at her home on the Callahan Trail. After the business meeting a Dleasant social hour was enjoyed. A white elephant exchange was held, and all members present honored the nosiess wnn a poi holder shower. News of4-H CLUBS The Lookingglass community will be host for the regular monthly meeting of the Douglas County 4-H Leaders Association Wednesday evening, January 30. Bill Matthews, winner of an all expense trip to the National 4-H Club Congress, will give a report on his trio. Holding of spring achievement days will be discuss ed along with making of plans for awarding rotating trophies to outstanding schools with 4-H Dro grams. The meeting is to start at 7:30 with a dinner served by Lookingglass leaders. They are providing the meat dish and cof fee. Other leaders are to bring either salad or dessert. Anyone interested in attending is invited. Four cooking clubs and a cloth ing ciub were organized in the Glendale and Cow Creek com munity this past week. The girls in the seventh grade of the Glen dale school organized a cooking and clothing club. Officers elect ed were Jane Rust, president, Charlotte Johnson, vice-president, and Barbara Griifen secretary. Sixteen girls In the sixth grade organize d a cooking II club. Carol Christie Is resident, Ruth Lewal- lcn vice-president, and Billie Sue Mosley secretary. Twenty-two boys and girls in the 4th and 5th grades have organized for a cook ing I and II club. They have Ted dy Brown, Billy Sparks and Bob by Peil as their officers. Four girls and one boy have organized a cooking club in Cow Creek com munity out from Azalea. Shirley Pankey is president, Richard Pan key vice-president, and Mary Lee Rust secretary. Mrs. Winnie L. Dewey will act as leader for the clubs. Next meeting for the Glen dale clubs w ill be February 1. A district 4-H leaders meeting is to be held In Curvallis January 31 and February 1. Douglas coun ty leaders ulannin to attend are M. A.
